I will be upgrading my cell phone in a month or two and would like to move up to newer technology. My carrier is AT&T. Does anyone have either an iphone or an LG Vu? I do texting and email on my phone now and do not care that much about photo capabilities. Thanks for any advice!

So What Happened?

OK... I went with the iphone and have had it for about a week now and I love it! Next question for everyone... what are your favorite apps? I have two boys, 8 and 12, and am just starting to explore the apps store. It is a bit overwheming! Also, is there a good place to get ringtones other than the istore where you have to make your own?

Another one you'll want to take a look at is the Samsung Eternity. I've had this phone since December. It's awesome and cheaper then the iphone but does more than the Vu. My business website would not load on the Vu but loads on the Eternity. I haven't ran across any websites that don't load on the Eternity.

Just thought I'd share.

I have had my i Phone since February and absolutely LOVE IT!

I use it to keep up with email for my business. I also am able to carry my portfolio on it which makes it easy to show potential customers my work. Well worth the money.

Iphone. I love it. There are a few features I wish I could change but the apps you can purchase are awesome. Anything you could think of. Go play with them at the store. The Iphone is very user friendly.

I have an iPhone and love it. I can do all the things I used to do on my palm and the apps that are available really make my phone a second brain for me. I have friends that use their iPhone to entertain their children since there are games on the app store for kids. You should look at them side by side so you can see the features you would do best for you. Happy shopping!!

I am on my 2nd iphone. I bought one when they first came and just upgraded to the new 3g. I Love this phone (sometimes more then my kids..just kidding)LOL. I did read that this summer they will be doing an upgrade on all the iphones to where you will be able to send pictures threw text message and cut and paste text. The only downfall is the no insurance but I'm just really careful. I love the fact that I have my ipod with me all the time and if I'm at the gym and get a phone call I can talk to the person and when i end my call the song picks up just where it left off.

I used to want the iPhone so badly. It costs so much and doesn't have insurance so I was torn. I went to a store and they showed me the LG Vu and I love it! You can get the internet stuff for only $15/mth (the Iphone is more) and even though I never took pictures before I sometimes do now and send them to people when we are on a trip or doing something funny. The iphone can't send or recieve them. I am so happy with my choice! I paid a lot less and pay a lot less a month.

Hope that helps!

My husband and I both have the Vu and love it. They are way less expensive the Iphone, and the internet plan is half the price as well. Neither one of us have ever had an issue with them.

I read alot of reviews and the Iphone seems to me like it is for people who just can't live without their computer. I also am with ATT and got the tilt. I love my phone. I have a keyboard if I want for text when I tilt it open but I can also use the stylis on the front screen to text and email. It has the touch screen on the front and is concidered a pocket pc but is not a bulky and wide as the rest. Go to the Att site and compare the 3.

Hi there, my good friend just purchased the LG Vu and so I was able to tinker with it a little and I loved it. I want one myself. She does alot of texting and you can either text like on a regular phone or turn it and use it like a keyboard which she loved. I want one! I think it's a great phone and looks real nice too.

I have the Vu and I love it! It's a great phone, and alternative to the Iphone. It's very hard to tect and drive (which I guess I shouldn't do anyway) b/c you can't feel the buttons like a regular phone, so I quit texting while driving (which is probably for the better). I don't do anything on the internet, though, b/c I just don't need it. You said you don't care about the camera, but it's great and holds a ton of picture, even without the mini sd card!

We use AT&T, family of 3 all Iphones. My hubby has the newest version and LOVES it. My daughter (14) and I got our Iphones last April.

We love them. The biggest drawback is no insurance. Daughter's screen is slightly cracked right now but the phone is still working very well. I am shocked...this is her 4th phone...she either loses them or they get broken.

I love my Iphone. I text a LOT, I do take pictures and YES I can send pictures..you just do it via email. Very simple. The apps are fun. I have not used all of the capabilities of my phone yet but if I had to get another I would just uprade my Iphone to a newer Iphone. We do pay $20 each for the internet use per month.

My daughter's is tagged onto my phone. Our bill is around $170/month. Phones are paid for as soon as you get them up front. The $170 is the cell service which includes our minutes, $30/month for unlimited texting, etc, $40 for the 2 of us for Iphone usage.

My hubby's bill is around $170 for his as well. Granted....we use a LOT of minutes and we are not on the cheapest plan.

I've only gone back to the ATT store once with questions about my phone and they fixed it right there. It just froze and went black and they reset it.

As for text, no you cannot save and forward text but you can take a picture of the screen and email it. I say Iphone all the way!!!!!!!!!

Just be careful with it.....they are not as pricey now as they were a year ago. Just think, to get a new phone upgrade you will pay upwards of $200-300.....just buy an iphone and you are set.

I no longer carry my laptop with me when I travel because I can do everything I need to do on my phone. That is a huge hassel eliminated!!

Good luck

i love my iPhone! It is so much fun - with TONS of apps that you can put on there. You can browse the app store at itunes now and see there's an app for everything! The iPhone has the best web browser. My husband had a blackberry before and he says he loves the iPhone safari web browser so much better - it's faster and easier to use and see.

You can take and receive pics but you do it in the email format, not text. I do receive some photo text msgs that take me to a website to view them. If I want to send pics I take with my phone, I just email them. simple as that.
But the biggest difference that iPhone blows the competition away with are the apps -- lots of people are constantly writing new apps for the phone b/c they know so many people have these phones and are using them for fun. Examples of apps I have: where should we go eat for dinner tonight; movie times near where my current location is (gps navigates and automatically searches movie theaters where I'm at); NY Times; Craigslist viewing; grocery list; weight loss/food diary; soduko; Password game; Tipulator (calculates tip if you need to split check) etc etc. There are so many fun things you can buy or get for free, too! anyway ...
just to let you know I think the new version of iPhone - i think it comes out later in the summer, i'm not sure though -- will have cut/paste text capabilities.

I love my iPhone and I do have an extended warranty. I bought it at the Apple store, so maybe that is the difference. It is one of my most important tools with my toddler. I have apps on it with games for her, apps for shopping, iTunes w/ videos and TV shows... I can't say enough about how it has helped when going to dr's visits to entertain her.

Hi B.,

I have a few opinions on both. I have the iPhone 3G and got it in November my mom just got the Vu about 2 weeks ago.

Depending on what you really want to do is what is best for you.

1st YES you can send and recieve text pics without email but you have to download the app. To send them its the Hook app and is free then there is a receiving one but it cost money so I just connect on the internet and download the pic free.

Pros for iPhone
1. Fast access to email. I have 7 emails logged in on the phone and can recieve Word, Excel and PDF formats as well as pics and more within seconds.

2. It is the only phone that can load up any webpage fully and not condensed but it can not do flash sites!

3. A lot of websites are now creating pages to easy load up for iphones only.

4. If you like apps this is the store. I have one that I LOVE. It's called lose it and i put in what I eat and it calculates my calories etc. They have apps that rang from games, to finance (mint is the best), to myspace etc.

Cons
Can't pick up local radio stations (yes there are apps but not local)

No flash on camera (Blackberry's is GREAT)

Can just send pic text or recieve you have to go through an app

ALWAYS crashes and has to reboot. If you utilize your phone a lot that is and I DO.

I have to charge the battery 3-4 times a day so make sure you always have a charger handy.

My mom has the vu. She did not want to have to charge all the time and she does not need all the apps. The camera is good.

Really if you are not going to be using a ton of email, dont have time to charge all the time, and dont need apps etc Just get the Vu.

I have been very happy with my I-phone. I am amazed what it can do. I also have a mac book laptop and I can sync both together very easily. Texting is much easier to do than on my old phone.
