I was just wondering if any mom's had any advice for me about teething. Is 21/2 months to early to be teething? Also I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a ped in the North Denver area? I am really looking for someone who is very personable and willing to answer my list of questions:) We have seen a couple now and haven't yet found a good match. Thanks for the help!!

Not at all. My daughter got her first tooth at 3-4 months and it is not uncommon for this to happen. I used Humphreys Teething Tablets (they are wonderful) you desolve them and rub their gums with the liquid. Tylanol and oragel. Hang in there. Also, if they are really bothering them you can give a frozen waffle for them to gum and it seems to work. As he/she gets older try frozen fruit in one of those mesh bags. My daughter loeved it!

Hang in there..... :)

I'm a fan of the oragel that comes in the q-tips... I realize it is more expensive than the tube, but at least you can tell if you are getting the stuff in the right place. one caveat... I'd check with your peds... I don't think you are supposed to give them oragel until they are 6 mos.. not sure... though it was hardly a problem for us, my daughter didn't get any teeth until she was one, and just turned two and still doesn't have all of them.

I don't know how far north you want to look, but we use a wonderful pediatrician in Louisville. There are actually 3 doctors in the same office. It is the Boulder Medical Center and is located at Avista Hospital. We use Dr Cavanaugh and she is great!! Their office staff are all really friendly and will call back within 1/2 hour if we ever need advice from the nursing staff or doctors. Dr. Cavanaugh is not the type who wants to see our children for every sniffle and fever. She listens to the symptoms and then makes a decision of whether they need to be seen right away. I have a 4 yo and a 1 yo and she has seen both since hours after their births. Anyway, we interviewed her before the birth of our daughter and were very impressed. The office number is ###-###-####. Hope it helps!

Hi R.,

We have an EXCELLENT pediatrition! Dr. Kathryn Starbuck, or her husband, Dr. Michael Starbuck. I interviewed them 5 yrs ago for my first born and now both of my boys see Dr. Kathryn. When I met her, I just wanted to crawl in her lap. I love her! Also if you can't get in with her or Dr. Michael, all of the Drs. there are fabulous!! They have a nurse you can call anytime and they will call you back ASAP with any questions or concerns-(I've called alot!) If it is after hours, they transfer you to Children's hospital nurse line and someone calls you right back. Everyone is so friendly.

The name is Arvada Pediatrics ###-###-####x1(as soon as the phone picks up push 1 and the receptionist picks up within 2 rings! I love that!) there are two locations. The drs. I am speaking of are in Broomfield off of 120th and Harlin(I think) anyway they are worth driving to. We moved out of the area by 30 miles and I still go there. In fact my yongest has an appointment on Friday for his 3rd yr check up.

Good luck!

I don't have recommendations for a pediatrician because I live in the Springs, but I wanted to say that 2 1/2 months is not too early for teething. My older daughter got her first two teeth at about 2 1/2 months, although the teething symptoms started several weeks, maybe even a month before that. It's not commom for a baby that young to get teeth, but it does happen.

Babies are going to get their teeth when they are ready to come in. Try using baby oragel for teething if baby seems to be in pain. Also the teething toys work great if you put them in the fridge for a while and let the baby suck on it. Some babies are even born with teeth. My brother had 2 teeth when he was born. Some babies don't even get teeth until they are over a year old.

I can't help you on the pediatrician, but my son started teething at two months also. They Hyland's brand teething tablets are homeopathic and are a lifesaver to me! Since they are all natural, you don't have to worry about giving drugs to a baby too young. I find mine at Smith's, but I'm sure they are elsewhere also.

I can't help with the Ped problem My husband and I use a Family practice for our daughter. It really isn't that uncommon for kids to get teeth in that early. Mine got her first in at 3 months old. Was a real shocker to me and the hubby. He swore she hated him because she always lost it at night with him when I went to work. We got some of those Mesh baggy type teethers and put big chunks of ice in them and let her go at it while sitting up of course. Later I used fruits in them that I froze. Also even at that age any frozen yummy bread will work. (bagels, Waffles etc)I finally convinced my husband it wasn't him when I let him watch her teeth on her fingers and bite them. She wasn't to happy to have bitten her own finger but he was finally convinced those teeth really were coming in. We went out and bought the mesh bags and regular oragel the next day. We also had the hylands teething tabs to use. When those didn't work we took Q-tips and dipped them into the oragel and rubbed her gums with them. When she got in her molars and the bigger teeth in the back that also helped then. She wasn't really able to gum on things then in order to help relieve the pain so we would give her a q-tip soaked with oragel to run around with. We always kept a close eye on her when she had one but for the most part she was pretty good not to chew on it and we watched her move it side to side in her mouth then give it back when she wasn't needing it any more. That wont work with all kids due to the eating everything they put in their mouths thing... but if yours is anything like mine as long as they are supervised very closely and don't try eating it... *Shrug* should work fine.
Good luck.
