Hey All, We have two old dinosaurs for digital cameras, they both are having issues and with three little darlings, I don't want to miss a thing!! Any suggestions on a new one? We really want something pretty small that takes a nice pic, hoping to spend under $200. Thanks for your help. M.

I have a Kodak easyshare too. I picked it up about a year ago for just under 200, it may have come down in price since. I LOVE it. I didn't care for the photo program that came with it, might be my PC (it's older) but it took so long to open & too long to move from function to function. I ended up removing that program & just using the camera with the photo program my pc came with.

We have the Casio Exilim and absolutely love it. I know that we paid under $200 when it was on sale at Circuit City.

Hi,

I just bought a new one about 6 months ago. I bought a KodakEasyShare that I am happy with. I bought it without the docking station and can send pictures easily without it. What really convinced me was that it seemed more durable than others - for those times when the kids get their hands on the camera.

I also checked out reviews of each camera I was looking at on Amazon. That really gave me some insight too.

Hi M.-
I'm on my second Fujifilm Fine pix and really can't say enough good things about them. (I got a new one to get more megapixels, not because there was anything wrong with the first one. In fact, after being dropped and manhandled by my two kids, the first is still taking great pictures.) They're easy to use and take awesome pictures. Whichever camera you end up with, just a tip on taking great pics of your little ones...the higher your optical zoom number, the better your close ups will be. :) Good luck in your search and happy picture taking!

I am very fond of Cannon brand. We had a cannon G2 - which we loved but was bit on the bigger side (and quite expensive in 2001 - and was actaully a joint wedding present from all of our parents and siblings) with having kids now - the G2 was a bit big to put in the diaper bag - and the newer G series was still expensive, and didn't want to have to worry about it too much being tossed in a diaper bag/stroller etc.

Went and got a Cannon PowerShot A710 IS (which i think now is A720 IS) - it's a great size - and still has a bit of a handle to hold onto - we found that the really small ones (like the SD series - where they were a bit slimmer) were hard to hold you had to hold with yoru fingers in the corners, with your pinkies in the air - and my husband really couldn't hold it at all - where as i can still hold this one w/ 1 hand.

we actually bought it 2 days before our trip to italy - so that was our first run with it - and it was great! over 400 pictures - and only used about 1/2 of a 1GB memory card.

We boought a second one for my husbands siblings (1/2 siblings are 15 & 17) for christmas - and they love it.

the Zoom Browser software that comes with it is very easy to use, great to edit/crop photos as needed etc.

as for priting pics - i don't really print all that much - i create albums through kodakgallery/snapfish/mypublisher etc - and then just buy the book - and if i do need to print actual pic's it's really easy to upload them to kodak gallery, and either have them sent or do instore pic up at a local CVS.

Hi M., I love HP Photosmart M425. OMG, it takes the best pictures. It was around $129 at Walmart. The best camera ever and they have online free classes all the time on how to use the buttons. The outside pics are the clearest, even my brother says, "boy, that camera takes awesome pics" and there's a built in video camera. Very very easy to use. I would definetely buy one. If you have any more questions, just write me ok? Hope this helps. B.

I got one by kodak... it came with its own printer so that I can print pics at my house rather than having to get developed at a store. You can buy it at Best Buy and the paper is also available at CVS. It was a gift but I think it is $150

There are loads of really good digital cameras for under $200. You need to look online and I recommend www.ritzcamera.com.
Kodak V803 has 8.1 MP and is $169.29
Canon Power Shot SD750 is $199.99
Canon Power Shot A570IS is $149.99
Kodak easy Share C613 is $82.96
Panasonic Lumix DMC-L26K is $129.99
Nikon Coolpix S210 is $179.99
There's a huge variety as you can see but using the Ritz website you can put in "under $200", that you're a novice to professional, how many pixels etc.
I own 2 Kodak digital cameras, one is the Kodak V803 which is great and the other an SLR. You'll find one that suits your needs and have fun.

I have a cannon which i love, but it's not that small. I like the bigger one for stabilization of my hand. Whatever you decide, check out www.beachcamera.com I checked everywhere and it was almost $100 cheaper, still has warranty and i think i got free shipping.

Hi M.,
I was in the same boat and just purchased a new camera. I got the Canon A570 IS Powershot. It was only $150 and it works awesome. It's not as sleek and thin as some of the newer ones out there but the picture quality is incredible and there is hardly any shutter delay. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an affordable digital cam that takes great pics. I got mine at ritzcamera.com - free shipping!

I've had an Olympus for the last 2 years and love the pictures it takes, but the response time is slow and I miss some of the action (you know how long you can get a little one to be still :). Someone at Best Buy recommended Canon or Sony as the quickest, but I haven't made the move yet. Look at Costco and BJ's too, sometimes they have great deals on cameras that are good. Happy photo taking!

Hi,
I am a stay at home mom, former photo teacher. I recomend olympus point and shoot digital cameras. We have the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Digital Camera that is indistructable! Can go under water up to 10 feet + lots of other features. The only problem is that I let me 18 month old play with it because he can't break it and he thinks any camera he can play with now.

I got a polaroid i531 from walmart for under $100 for my 10 yr old. I like it better that my expensive samsung camera!

It's simple to use and has nice features like a large display, almost no hesitation, 3X zoom? (I forget) and red eye reduction.

it takes awesome photos and decent length video clips (depending on how big your card is)

I'm buying 2 more for my boys next xmas

the canon powershot elph cameras are great. i bought one as a backup to my larger camera while i was pregnant, so mine is a couple years old, but it's still going strong and it really take good pictures. there's almost no delay and it takes good video too. it's small enough to put in your pocket even.

I can also recommend Canon Powershot- although I have had different models, not the Elph. Check out Newegg.com- they have great deals and occasional incentives on cameras and computer stuff.
