Need Flat Screen TV Recommendation

Don't go with a plasma - it's old technology and they burn out A LOT quicker (coming from my husband - IT guy and professional researcher of all things electronic!). 1080p for the best picture. After a ridiculous amount of research (see note about husband) we bought a Vizio. They are one of the cheaper brands but kept getting rave reviews everywhere he looked. We bought it from Costco 3 years ago and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Fantastic picture even after a whack or two from light sabers. My kids are both boys and we're geeks as I'm sure you can tell by now! LOL FYI - hubby was just telling me that this Black Friday is supposed to be all about cheap TVs (he's in research mode again since we are planning to upgrade our bedroom TV).

We have Sony 52" and really like it. My husband did a lot of research before buying it and Sony (I think it's the Visio) was one of the best at the times. Now mind you that was a few years ago and we all know electronics change quickly, but if you have access to a Consumer Reports I'd check it out. I think Best Buy will take away your old one but if not I know Salvation Army has a recycling program.

Let Salvation Army pick up the clunker and get a tax deduction!!

We got 4 TV's at Best Buy.

2 identical Sony Bravia HDTV (I think 46") and sit in identical entertainment centers with the fireplace separating the 2. It is really cool for football and basketball season to have different games going, etc.
1 Samsung in the master bedroom (smaller but not by much)
1 Sony with DVD player, small screen in daughter's bedroom.

Then we have 2 50 something " Dell Plasma's. 1 in the main game room on the wall and the other in another game room and used for Wii, etc.
I prefer the flatscreen LCD's vs the Plasma.. the Plasma's get hot

We've had good experiences with Best Buy and Dell.
