Need a Big Girl Bed for Toddle

I saw a really cute one the other day at IKEA believe it or not! It was black and I think it comes in white but it looks like it's that wrought iron look. And it has side rails on it so they can't fall out. I thought it was adoreable and not very pricey at all!! Infact, it looked like they had it set up as a toddler bed and that it stretched out as a twin later. Go take a look, it's really cute!

Hi. I have a 5 year old daughter. She has been in a big girl bed since the age of 2. We got her a twin size bed at Stacey's furniture. But now I wish we would of gotten her a queen. We are thinking of upgrading next year. And, I would go ahead and purchase the whole set. It is just a pain to match everything else later. I would try rooms to go. They have great deals.

I'm going to also advise on IKEA. They have many types of beds for kids at really great prices and frankly I don't think they're bad quality. What I like most about them for very young children is that you can configure it so that they are pretty low to the ground so you don't have any worries about them falling out, or when it's time, they don't have any problems getting in and out when they need to go potty in the night.

I got both of my kids first beds there and they're daybeds because we have a small house and no game room. They need their toys in their rooms and enough room to play with them. I also didn't get a box spring so they are low to the ground. IKEA has these boards that you use instead of a box and it doesn't make the mattress higher.

When I was looking I also ran across some really great deals at Bombay Kids. They are not usually really cheap, but they will often put their furniture that they're discontinuing on sale for amazing low prices. I almost bought one there.

And one other thing, a couple weeks ago I was in Pier 1 Kids by Stonebriar Mall and they're going out of business and everything, including all their furniture was on sale for half price. By now, if there's anything left it's probably even cheaper.

We got the frame, box spring, mattress, mattress pad, and pillows from Sams for a very reasonable price.

My advice to you is get what size she will use from now until the dreaded day your daughter leaves you. It is an investment for her. Get what you think she will grow in to. However, if you don't want to invest in something she'll have forever, a short term fix is at IKEA. They have great stuff for kids at great prices.

Our son turned two this summer & we moved him to a big boy bed. We are due with our daughter in Oct. & needed the crib. Rooms To Go Kids has lots to offer. We bought a full size bedroom set & he LOVES it. This set should last him for years to come, so it was a smart investment. Definitely worth a look! :)

Our 4 yr old has been on a full-sized bed since she was 17 months old and she really likes it. She can sleep with about a dozen of her favorite stuffed animals and dolls! :-)
Also, her bedroom is large, so we didn't have to worry about the bed taking up play space. Furniture for beds bigger than twin is obviously more expensive, and it is a little harder to find cute kids bedding in a full, but we have always found what we needed.

Just a note, I don't think I've ever seen kid bedding in a queen size.

When my daughter was about 4, we moved to a smaller home and my daughter inherited our queen sized guest bed because we didn't have a guest room anymore (she had a twin previously). What I learned was that kid themed bedding rarely comes in queen- usually just twin and full. I would recommend that you stick with twin or full unless you have a compelling reason to get a larger bed.
