So What Happened?

Thank you all for your help! We are truly on the fence between Jude and Lukas, just like many of you were:) We will use family names for the middle name, either Jude Kallio (my maiden name) or Lukas James (my dads name). We are going to think about it for a while, maybe even wait til he gets here! You all helped alot though and I appreciate it!!!!

I have 2 boys, Asaph (6) and Joshua (19 months). In addition to my boys names I have always liked Caleb, Simon, and Ayden. Not to many names, but a few suggestions.

I vote for Jude. Lukas has become too "popular". Jude sounds like he'll be a cool kid! Congratulations!!

I'm not fond of the weird spelling of Lukas, Niko is a bit odd. I think I'd go for Jude. It's the only one that fits with mainstream names like Ella and Jake. Just honest, no offense, but great names none the less!

My name is J., I have always HATED it. Everyone thinks its cute to sing you the Beatles song.....not so cute after the first 100 times. Plus, a boy named Jude? Sounds too much like a girls name, like naming a boy Leslie, Carol, or Claire, it's sure to get him a black eye or two. I like Niko and Luka.
Just my two cents, best of luck and Congrats on your new baby!

My vote is for Jude.........I also like Lukas but I try to think of how names will fit them as they are adults and Jude sounds like a strong name for a man as well as a cute name for a little boy.

GOOD LUCK!

My sister once gave me the advice to imagine your child as a Supreme Court Justice. When they announce your child's name, does it sound silly as an adult?

"The Honorable Jude blankety blank!"

"The Honorable Lukas blankety blank!"

"The Honorable Niko blankety blank!"

Always worked for us! :)
Best Wishes!

I like Lukas with the other kids names... I think that Niko might be too "different" compared to theirs... if that makes since and then you already have a J name. They are all great names so you can't go wrong.

Lukas sounds the best with the other two kids' names. It also seems like a better name for a man when he gets older. Good luck!

Here's an idea for a tie-breaker: At the same time and secretly, each of you write your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice between Jude, Lukas and Niko. Whichever name matches in the highest order is the winner! For example, you can say Jude, Lukas and Niko. But your husband says Niko, Lukas and Jude - Lucas is the winner.

What middle name are you thinking about with using those names as the first? That would kind of help as well. To see if it rolls off of the tongue when you say it...lol

I like Jude and Lukas..

Good Luck and Congrats!

It is okay if you don't have a name right now wait and see how you feel and you will know what the childs name should be. I picked several but as time went on only one stuck. It is a good suggestion to have a name of the childs ethnicity. (Niko is Japanese) Jude and Lukas (Luke) sound like you are going with Bible names why not Elijah to go with Ella. Does your husband want him to have his name or a variation of his name? Is there a deceased person in the family that you want to honor? My friend had 8 middle names each for all different ethnicities she is. Picking a name is not a hard choice just go with your gut. If your child doesn't like it, thats what nicknames and middlenames are for ;)

My husband and I would juse one name with ours for a week or so, and then it just wouldn't sound right, so we'd pick another one and do the same thing, so since you already have three names, pretend you have chosen one, and use it for a bit since you still have time , and see if it grows on you or if it just doesn't seem right, then use the next one if it doesn't.

My name is J. Ogoma Ihekwoaba, though my last name was different when I had my three children. I was faced with the same problem you and your husband had while pregnant with my first child. I went to lamar child birth class having my thoughts occupied more with what name to give my first baby. The names I was suggested to were too common and meaningless. I was curious, due date approaching. You know how excited it feels? I would go on regular prenatal care visits to my private OB/GYN searching through magazines and baby albums looking for a name for my child. I did not want just any name, I wanted a spacial unique name that would rhyme with all my unborn children. I had copied sweet names from a family friend in Austin, Texas, U.S.A in 1986. It happened to be girls names. What if I have a boy first?I did not want any sonogram. What should I name him? By the way, I come up with all the names for our three children. My then husband could not think of any, he was totally blank. He did not believe a woman's womb could hold a child.
At a second thought, I visited the supposed hospital where I was told to go to when labor pain is five minutes interval, I walked into the hospital-gift shop, browsing around, my eyes caught this small pamphlet titled "Baby Name Book" which I paid only $1.50 for. Guess what? I found everything I needed including the two girls' names I had in mind. I was singing and dancing home. I lived just five to ten minutes from the hospital. To figure out Nigerian names for middle names was not a problem. The only help I got was that my then husband said he wants his own identity as such he wants his children to answer his first name as their last names. His current last name was his mother's, he did not want this trend to continue. I Thank God that today, the names I chose for my three children reflects on their behaviour and attitude, all centered around God's Eagle and Power. I wanted to name my first son, "Gift", his dad objected to it. Today, he is a football player with a very good college, he is a blessing and indeed a "gift" to the family and to all those around him. I consider myself blessed with three strong, wonderful children. I get calls asking me to have more, but bioligical clock is not in my favor anymore.
My advice is, think of a good meaningful name, backed up by your native name. Two english names per child is not a bad idea or two native ( your country of origin's) names to proove identity coupled with a last name. Think of a name you can abbreviate as first name. Let your mom help you if possible. Think of what you went through while pregnant, each child is different and comes out in his or her own special way. Give a sweet, simlpe name that is not idiomatic or full of proverbs.
I wish you a safe delivery. May duration of your labor be short and seem like you are urinating and God's hands and protection all around you and always. Let us know what the baby's name is.
All the best.

Others have written that they like Lukas, Luke or Lucas and I really like that name too, but I've always liked the name Jude! I had a friend in college who had a boyfriend named Jude, and of course people sang the Beatles' song to her just to tease her, (Hey Jude) but I love it. I also love your other names too. We are considering Ella for our 4th, a baby girl due in Sept. Jake & Jude....that's cute!

I vote for Jude as well. Fits well with Jake. I think Niko is cute, but I know a kid named Niko and other kids make fun of him a lot. Now that he is almost a teen.... the name was cuter when he was small.
