Hello all I am hoping for some answers. Every couple of weeks my 11 month old will spike a high fever of 101 up to 104.9 and it will last for 1-2 days. I give him Tylenol and lukewarm baths. I have Asks doctors over and over and they have no answers only treatments. Could the high fever be due to teething or growing? Has anyone else had this situation with their child? As you all know it is awful to watch your child suffer. also any tips on more effective fever reducing would be great also. Thank you all

Hi M., my son got some of this, he is 13 months old now. The doctor could not give me a reason either. But they said to use tylenol and motrin every other dose. So tylenol then three hours later motrin to help keep fever down. It worked really well. It seemed like to much medicine but it is only each medicine every 6 hours. I hope this helps.

Little about me: I am 29 yrs old and my son is 13 months old. I recently moved back to ABQ and am looking for new people for my son and I to do things with.

That use to happen to my son when he was between 11 months and 3 years. It turned out to be ear infections. We lived in NY on a beach at the time. I think it was the cold and the wind. My doctor suggested we move to a warmer climate. We moved to Southern CA and he wasn't sick again for about 10 years.

The baths always worked best for us. Try taking you child to a ear, nose and throat specialist next time he has a high fever.

My daughter experienced a LOT of fevers - her first one about that age & they were high fevers. She's 4 now & healthy as a horse. My son also has had a few (with ear infections). You can take them to the dr. to find out if they have any sort of infection, but if they don't - you just treat the fever (with tylenol or ibuprophen - I like ibuprophen better at night cuz it lasts 6 hrs instead of 4). Getting a fever is like getting a cold - you don't always know how or why they got it, but regardless - you still treat the symptoms. Liquids should be encouraged, but not forced. And watch for them getting too high (105-106+). A fever is fighting SOME infection. You should only treat a fever when your child is acting sick. "Your Child's Health" by Barton D. Schmitt, MD is a book that was recommended to me by my pediatrician for everything - even behavior. I practically use it as my bible. Hope this helps.

The same thing happened with my 10 month old due to teething. It does hurt to see them in pain. I just gave her tylenol and let her sleep in my lap with a cold washcloth on her head (just a washcloth run under cold water and rung out thouroughly). This seemed to comfort her. Her teeth just started to push through a couple of days ago. She seems to feel better except for more drool. I feel for you and your little one. Good luck! I like to go for coffee @ Central Starbuck's if you would like someone to hang with.
