For music events: Miller Outdoor Theater (free); Barnes & Noble has children's music times (free); Sugar Land Town Square (City of Sugar Land website has info); Border's Books on Westheimer near Gessner also used to have children's music time.
Pick up at Kroger or HEB Houston Family Magazine & check their monthly calendar, advertiser section for music lesson providers. There's also a Fort Bend Parent and Katy Parent magazine, if you're in that area.

Kindermusic is also a good program for young kids. Both of my kids did this when they were in daycare. I'm sure you can find a class near you online. Additionally, the Houston Symphony has a great series of Family Concerts, which I took my kids to for several years. The concerts are on Saturday mornings and only last about 1 hour (not too long to sit still). There is also time before or after the concert to see and touch the instruments and do other activities. I think the prices are about $12 for kids and $20 for adults, but if you subscribe to the whole series, it's cheaper. Check out the details on the symphony's website.

I highly recommend Ana Godfrey's class at the Motherhood Center. She is wonderful. We have also done music at both Gymboree and Fundamentally Music. They are similar programs (play/music programs geared toward younger children), but I enjoyed them both as well.

Hi S.,
Jean Lee Baker (she has her BA from UT Austin and her MA from Columbia University)of the Red Eyed Bunny Piano Studio would be a great fit for your son... She is wonderful with little children and gives classes for all ages, starting with musical movement for infants and including individual and group instruction. Give her a call at ###-###-#### or email her at ____@____.com studio is just west of Eldridge between Memorial and Briar Forest.

You could also try Gymboree music classes, my 3 year old son loves them. Gymboree has several locations. Also, there's another group called Fundamentally Music. I've heard great things about the classes.

hi, I see here that you are lookign for concerts and not expenseive ones well I know of one place that you could check out. The Fort Bend Synphony Orchestra, this is there web site FBSO.org.

The tickets aren't that much and kids 12 and under are free. Their first concert is coming up in september. Once it gets close to that time. they will start to have info on the concerts. As a matter of fact the first concert is free!

And I know this because I am a member of the orchestra. if you go to the web site and look at the musicans you will find my name i play the double bass. As for the music leasons, from what I have seen you could do piano or even violin leasons. I want to put my boys in piano and so that they can get an intro to music and if they still want to play later on they will choose to play the piano or other instruments. I would hope one of them would choose the double bass lol!

but yeah check out the web site, rigth now they don't have a schedule set up yet but they will in the coming months.
Hope this helps some.
