My family is wanting to move to the Houston area from Tampa, Florida. I would like to get any kind of advice on what areas are good especially for children. I have heard a lot of the Katy area and that the Cy-Fair school system is preferably the best in the area. I am also looking for what area is good to buy a home in. We are currently working on our credit but want to buy a home and not rent an apartment.

We are coming to visit during my daughters spring break to check the area out and currently looking for a good hotel to stay in. We plan on looking around at the neighborhoods, schools, etc.

I would like any advice on moving to the Houston area.

Thank you,

M.

You were told correct Cyfair and Katy are the best. I chose to move to Cyfair because the stats I read at the Library were the best in the Houston/Houston outskirt area. My kids are doing better in this school district and are more happy to get to school where the teachers care. I read a paper my daughter wrote about moving to this district in her highschool years a paper about changes in eviroment and how it affects one. She said that it was so unbelievable how the teachers care at Cyfair she thought they were trying to be funny or something. She noticed how the students and teachers had such a positive attitude. I read what the others wrote. Cyfair is growing fast and I've heard that the schools to vary from school to school, when a new one opens it tends to be set up to mirror one of the others. Depends on where the staff moves to. Even though we have been growing thousands a year we still are all State recognized and we did have more that were State exemplemary. There were more but I'm amazed that with the growth that all our schools are still Recognized. I have a friend that lives on the border of Katy and Cyfair and she liked Katy better that Cyfair is harder. Her kids like Cyfair better. My son every year the teachers tell me that he's the happiest kid coming in, in the mornings. I tell them its because he appreciates where he is at now and hasnt forgotten where he came from. Klein is good and they are baseball city. I don't recomend Kingwood I have family there and there are problems arising. I've heard really great things about the Woodlands an Conroe schools too. Stay away from anywhere the metro goes!!! I'm afraid that out in Cyfair we're about to see the problem coming. I don't know about Katy but thats why Kingwood started having problems because anywhere the metro runs you start having problems. ps you had a response about Fairfield sub its part of Cyfair and also the response about Jersey Village that is also Cyfair. The other thing is I think Katy has already leveled off and Cyfair is still building. There are alot of great deals being offered at this time.

Cy-Fair is a really huge district, and there can be a lot of variation from one school to another. I would recommend Katy over Cy-Fair.

I would have to say CyFair is the best, but all are good.

CyFair - Outskirts of Northwest Houston
Klein - Outskirts North of Houston
Kingwood - Outskirts of Northeast Houston
Sugarland - Outskirts of Southwest Houston

Jersey Village is where I live and it is awesome! A small town inside a big city. Everyone I've met is so great, there's two parks and a pool. The property values are high so houses can be expensive but not so much, compared to Florida. My husband is from Palm Beach area. We are in the Cy-Fair ISD too.

I live off of Barker Cypress/ FM 529 area, which is in the Cy-Fair school district. My 17 year old has attended the Cy-Fair disctrict for 5 years, other than a breif time at Bellaire High in the HISD disctrict. I couldn't wait to get her back into Cy-Fair. The area is great, the schools are great and the teachers are patient and good at communicating with the parents. I am right at the border of Katy so you might consider looking in this area of town.

Hi my name is A. and my husband and I live in the CyFair area. We are both Loan Officers as well. Well I am a SAHM now. If you are needing info about houses and areas he has a close realtionship with realtors. Jody Wright, my husband, can also help you out to see maybe what kind of house you may qualify for. Just give him a call at First Houston Mortgage ###-###-####. I will let him know that you all are going to give him a call, just in case.
