My husband will be working just South of Pflugerville. It would be nice to live near his work. I am a mom of 3 boys. What is a nice area to live? My kids are active in sports. They like to swim. I need information on neighborhoods, schools, etc. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much to all that responded. I feel like we have a great start in looking for a place to raise our kids. We are flying in to look in about a week. I am very excited!

I also have 3 very active boys and live in Bherens Ranch in round rock. We LOVE the area and there are so many fun things close by and TONS OF KIDS TO PLAY WITH!!! The school is ranked Exemplary it's pretty stricts but it's been a very good school. We just moved here last year and have been very happy with the area. Good luck with the decision. We went through 40 homes before we felt like we found the right place.

Because of traffic issues, it is best to live kind of close to where you work. Can you tell us which part of town you will be working? There are really nice areas all over the Austin area.

I would suggest looking at neighborhoods off of Parmer Ln between 620 & 1431 and also off of 1431 in Cedar Park. Avery Ranch is great, three pools, parks, a hike and bike trail, lots of kids and several schools. Next to that is Oak Brook and Cat Hollow. All are close to shopping and close to the 45 Toll Road as well as 183.

Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Cedar Park are all pretty nice areas with plenty of good school districts. Most of them give good amounts of money to education and are building plenty of new schools to keep up with growth and not to have to deal with overcrowding (unlike Austin).Round Rock has a ton of good school districts off its various newer (1990+) neighborhoods off Gattis School Road.

The Leander School District is a great area to live with for the kiddos. They will basically receive a private school level education at a public school.

I live in Steiner Ranch which is a master planned community. It has elementary schools and a middle school. There are three community centers all with pools and parks. Steiner Ranch also has hike & bike trails, stores, "pocket" parks, lake access, etc.

Cedar Park is also a good place to live. Last year, it ranked #9 on the Family Circle list of the best place to raise a family. It is also in the Leander School District. There is a small subdivision in Cedar Park that is really nice and has great access to toll roads and major streets. Check out my website for more information at www.theKLMteam.com where you can find links to the Austin area school districts and to Steiner Ranch. The Market Snapshot can give you information on houses in specific neighborhoods.

Good Luck and Welcome to Austin!

We lived in the Eanes School District the whole time the kids were in school. My last one graduated last year, and we have moved to South Austin. Eanes is so worth the extra driving and cost of houses. Their education was excellent. Round Rock schools are also good, I understand. Lake Travis ISD is very good as well, but Eanes is what I know about.

The Georgetown Texas area is a wonderful town just north of Austin. Schools are great, lots of school and park district sports. Been here 15 years.....love it. Round Rock is between Georgetown and Austin. Also a great place for kids. Pflugerville is also a great town. Small country living, friendly people...growning fast. GOOD LUCK
