i went to see "Gravity" last weekend - it was OKAY - intense, but overall - not a movie I would go see again...

today we went to see "Captain Phillips" - it was REALLY GOOD! I would go see it again...

I've wanted to see "Enough Said" and "Escape plan"...

Have there been any movies you have seen recently that you liked? Loved? Hated?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

yep! going to a theater now is expensive...so I go to Costco and buy the tickets...MUCH cheaper that way!!

The boys want to see Pacific Rim...

We LOVE to rent movies too!! We actually rented World War Z and loved it! Loved it so much we bought it! I think we've watched it 4 times so far...I didn't think I would like it. I was pleasantly surprised.

Keep 'em coming!!! THANKS!!

Oooo, I saw Captain Phillips last night and loved it!
I am very hard to impress with a movie but that was worth the hard earned money. I'll be renting that when it comes out on video, too.

The most recent ones I've seen were the new Wolverine movie and Elysium. I saw Wolverine twice, love the character Wolverine and really enjoyed that they went with his Japan story arc. Elysium was good, but in hindsight, I wish we'd waited for it to come out on video because we didn't love it that much. Just the thought of seeing Gravity in a theater makes me sick to my stomach. There's something about that much space that I can't handle.

Thor 2 comes out in a few weeks and I know we'll be there opening weekend. :)

I worked at a movie theater for 7 years, through high school and college, and man, I didn't realize how spoiled I was by free movies until I had to start paying for 2 adults and sometimes a kid.

The last movie I saw in the theatre was World War Z. The whole family enjoyed it, but I was disappointed that it wasn't true to the book.

I used to go to movies pretty regularly when we had a discount theatre nearby, but they decided to make the discount theatre into a fancy premium theatre and I am too cheap to go anymore.

I have heard Gravity was actually really good. They say it will be nominated for a lot of awards. But we like sci fi..

I have similar taste in movies as Laurie A....

We just went to see "The Kings of Summer" at a second-run theater. Nice indie movie, really enjoyed it.

A little 'late', but watched Frost/Nixon last night. Just amazing.
We also saw the latest Bond movie (skyfall) and the newest Star Trek with Benedict Cumberbatch as Kahn... I can't stop being impressed with that guy!
Liked all of these....

We watched the Croods(sp?) over the weekend, it was worth the watch, but really not all that great.

Redemption (with Jason Statham) was alright too. Worth the price of a rental, but not enough to pay for.

You should try Memoirs of a Geisha if you haven't seen it before. It's not new by any means, but it's a good one!

Don't know if you are looking for adult or kid ones...but thinking of this last Summer Blockbusters- my husband LOVED Wolverine-said it was definitely the best one he had seen in a long time. Despicable Me 2 was a great show for adults and kids-you will have to see the 1st one to understand the 2nd one. For the Halloween seasonal ones-just purchased Hotel Transylvania-ALSO a great kid's show and adults will love it too-Adam Sandler is the voice or Dracula and such a great character. And Frankenweenie-a Tim Burton one...it's a fresh approach, black/white, interesting characters and plot. I thought it was just as good as the Nightmare Before Christmas, but my kids might disagree. If you haven't already seen it, Les Miserables is fantastic! I highly recommend that one, too.

Right now the movies out don't excite me. I love most kids movies and funny ones.

Jeff and I saw We're The Millers - HILARIOUS, but very inappropriate for kids. And you know how liberal I am with what my kids watch/listen to.

I saw Two Guns - VERY good.

I want to see Gravity...but am hearing mixed reviews, so we'll see.

We will probably go see Free Bird and Frozen when those come out.

Over the summer we saw most of the new kids movies: Despicable Me 2 (we saw this so many times in the theaters...so funny!), Smurfs 2, and I knoew there are more. Grown Ups 2 was funny - Kaelyn and I saw that together...SO funny!!!

Rush was REALLY good . . . surprised me.

Hated Gravity. Ugh.

Fifth Estate (wikileaks movie) has some interesting ideas but is not that well done. Could have been much better.

In the theater or on bluray/DVD?
The last movie we saw in the theater was Transformers, I think 1 not 2. Way too expensive to go to the movies, especially is it's all 5 of us.
Tonight, at home, we just watched Pacific Rim and really enjoyed it. It was a lot more than just a monster and robot movie.
We've been watching somewhat older movies lately as the kids keep asking us about our references to them. We recently watched The Princess Bride to give you an idea ;)

I have heard the Way Way Back is fantastic.
We watched Pacific Rim last weekend, hubby and kids were really into it, I fell asleep. But Sci-fi is really not my thing.
Despicable Me 2 was cute.
The Heat was funny (very crude, just a heads up) but not super memorable.
Mostly we have been watching tv shows, it seems like they are so much better done than movies anymore. We have loved Breaking Bad, Wilfred and Ray Donovan. I would recommend those series for sure!

I watched The Family the other week and enjoyed it. My 12 year old was ok with it (not to scary or gross)but not sure for younger kids it was R. She enjoyed the movie though. I'm looking forward to the new Hunger Games that is due out. We both really enjoyed Iron Man 3. Its on pay per view now.
