Did you have a midlife crisis? If so, how did you know?

I think I'm in the thick of one....

What can I do next?

I would have to schedule time to have a mid-life crisis! LOL

But to answer the question, no.

The most I want these days is to find a good hairstylist, who can give me a great cut/color and is available weekday evenings. That's really the only thing on my wishlist.

Wow, that was a fascinating article J. G.! And it summed up exactly how I feel sometimes. 40's are tough in certain ways. I thought the curve concept was neat.

I also thought it was interesting how some of the results were the same regardless of what "phase" of life you were in in your 40's. I'm 45 and my kids are 20 and 17 (almost 21 and 18). I should be in the sweet spot of my life, and in many ways I am. But I catch myself musing over things I wish I had done better with my kids, or done differently with my career. I'm looking forward to my 50's now after reading this article!

And I do think the the KEY component to happiness in this phase (and any phase) is gratitude . . . for it all.

ETA: Forgot to answer your question! No, I wouldn't say I've had a crisis. More like existential angst sometimes. :)

Is it because you still want to move to the country?

Yes, I am 43 and definitely feel dissatisfaction with my life the last 2 years! This year has been rough. An unwanted (by me) move. Left all my good friends and my good job. My husband works longer hours. No pay raise for him though. My back is having major issues and I have been having to go to doctors and to physical therapy weekly. They are saying I need a major surgery. I'm not that old yet! No! I just feel like life really sucks this year. I read the article and I have to say it gives me hope that it's a curve and things will look up once again.

i didn't have one - and I'm past mid-life. But I was wild in my 20's so I guess I had it early.

But really, I'm so content with my life - even after 7 years of one-thing-after-another family trauma I've been contnet. Stuff happens, people get sick, accidents happen, teens do things you never planned on - but God is faithful and good things eventually come out of the bad stuff.

I'm jsut so glad to be alive and to live in this great country with the freedoms that we have.

Maybe a little bit of one. :)
I turned 40 in July and had 18 inches cut off my hair in December so I can do a fauxhawk on the weekends. My step-son made me a grandmother in January. I'm sure that played a part in it as well. I may be getting older but, I'm going down swinging. :)
Honestly, I love the singer Pink and think she is beautiful. I wanted my hair cut like her's. My kids will tell you that it was my version of a mid life crisis.

Hmm.. I'm 46 and I'd say no. I'm pretty content with my life. Are there things that I have looked back on and thought, "what if I had done THAT differently?"... sure. Do I look towards the time when our kids are out of the house (they are 13 and 16), and try to plan what I will do then? Of course.

But a crisis? Nahhh... I did my wild living before I was married (in my 20s) and really, life is pretty nice for us. Nothing will ever be perfect in this life. You adapt and find the joy in the present. I don't need a new (insert house, car, vacation trip, wardrobe, hair style, ___) to make me happy.

Oh J., sweetie, you aren't in a midlife crisis, your kids haven't even hit puberty yet.
That's when the REAL crisis sets in :-(
You just need to send them to school and get yourself out of the house.
Work, volunteer, go to school, do whatever fills YOUR needs, even if it's just very part time.
Oh, and spend some quality time with your husband, kid free.
I know you can afford it, so DO IT.
