Maternity Clothes - Fort Lauderdale,FL

Just wondering where everyone buys maternity clothes. I have always had trouble finding maternity pants that fit (I'm tall, thin and carry my babies very small). Nothing by Motherhood Maternity fits me well--and I HATE full panels. Target doesn't have much right now and the closest Old Navy that has maternity is 45 minutes away. Does Gap fit the same as Old Navy (Old Navy was all I found to fit with my first but I gave them all away cause I was a lot smaller with my 2nd). Any other suggestions?

What can I do next?

I went to a store called Japanese Weekend and bought some boot cut jeans. I paid a little more than Target or other places, but WHAT A GREAT PAIR OF maternity pants they were.. I got sooooooooooooo much use out out of them and they were like regular pants, but with the panel and softer denim.. plus, looked very fashionable. Also, although expensive, I bought a few Michael Stars maternity tees... which I loved and wore a lot...... a few black ones, navy and cream. I was set..

JW does have a website but may not show their jean selection.. maybe you could call them.. again , best jeans ever..
Michael Stars can be found all over..

good luck

There is a maternity chain called "A Pea in the Pod" you could try, though I figure they are expensive because around here they tend to be in high-end malls; however, they might have a better range of things and could be worth the money.

Also, check with local secondhand stores (especially something with a lot of women's clothing like stores sponsored by your local Junior League, AAUW or other women's groups). Sometimes those stores do have maternity clothes in excellent shape because the clothes were worn only for a few months!

I hate the full panel. I noticed on Motherhood's website that they have some under belly pants. A Pea in The Pod is a lot more expensive but it's the same company as Motherhood, so you may have luck there. I've found that Old Navy and Gap fit pretty similar, if anything Old Navy runs a little bigger. In regular jeans, I'm usually an 6 in Old Navy and an 8 in Gap.

I couldn't find anything used worth buying so I shopped at Target, Motherhood Maternity and Gap Maternity. I had the best luck with Gap Maternity even though their selection is very small. Their items wore well (fit, durability and quality) and for the price seemed like a good buy (priced between Old Navy/Target/cheap and Pea in the Pod/too expensive). I did buy a few sale items from Pea in the Pod but I thought it was too expensive otherwise. Also the items didn't hold up like I thought they should considering how much they cost. Good luck.

Kind of depends on how much of an "investment" you're willing to make...
With my first, I bought a lot of expensive ones figuring they'd carry me through a couple of preggos. By the second, I was going as cheap as possible because I knew I was done...

My favorite was Isabella Oliver. Beautiful clothes, pristine quality, and some that I still wear today...they're that transitional. But they're expensive.
Otherwise...for stuff like jeans...eBay!

IF you need a pari of jeans I would get a pair of jbrand or other premium jeans-I would have to imagine these would fit much nicer and look a lot cooler than the traditional maternity pants. Get them on ebay if $ is an issue. They will also have a decent resale value when you are done. I liked GAP a lot when I was prg. too. Doesn't LOFT have maternity now as well?

M.:

the first time - I had a girlfriend loan me her stuff....and then I bought stuff online and at garage sales and consignment shops. Yep, I over bought....

When I was pregnant Old Navy didn't do maternity stuff that I was aware of.
Peapod might work and the Women's Tall Shop (I think that's what it is called) has a small maternity section!

I would search on ebay and amazon as well.

CONGRATS!! Good luck!! I hope you find what you are looking for!!!

I am probably not as tall as you, I am 5;7", but I am thin also, size 2. Below are some of my favs.....

Order your old navy online. Worst case they don't fit and you exchange/return. I LOVE ordering online - hate shopping sometimes, esp when pregnant!

Pea in the pod is also good. I found most of my PP in Motherhood Maternity Stores.

7 For all Mankind jeans worked well for me. They are pricier than others, but I knew I could resell them for a good amount after wearing them, or use them if I had another. And being pregnant is miserable - get yourself a great pair of jeans. You only need one pair, and you won't regret it. Sell them on ebay after, and you will likely get back close to what you paid. Name brands like that sell so well.

Michael Stars also worked well for me (tops mostly).

ditto pea in the pod - they are now under the umbrella of some motherhood stores. Also, check out "mine for nine" it is a website where you rent nicer clothes for as long as you need them. Could give you an opportunity to test out a few different brands and stick with what works.
