Hi Everyone!
We are new to the NORTH AURORA area and I am in need of reccomendations on Pediatricians, Ob/gyn's, Family Doctors, and Hospitals. I am doing research on the internet but would like to hear from y'all. There are so many in the area: Edwards, Rush-Copley, Provena Mercy, Delnor....
We are going to try to get pregnant again this year. We are from Houston and I delivered my daughter at the Texas Women's Hospital and it was about 40 minute drive. So driving doesn't bother me. I just really want to find the best hospital for my family and I.

I really appreciate your input!! I am very thankful for finding this website!

What can I do next?

I agree with everyone who said dreyer. They are great docters and they are very kind. Dr. Judd Jones delivered my first son going on 14 years in march. My second child was also a dreyer baby. She was delivered my Dr. West. I had a miscarrige last april and the docter that helped was Andrea Jones. She was kind and listen to my concerns and did everything to help me. All my children (I have 4 biologically) but my youngest have had dreyer Pedes.(my youngest was born in Rockford.)

I had my first child at Delnor, and they were good but far. Now we go to Copley. I had my other two at Copley. Loved it! I would never go anywhere else. My doctors are great as well. We've had the same ones for about ten years now. We have Dr. Katula for family practice (my husband and I all the way to my 6 month old goes to him.) and my ob/gyn is Dr. Druhan. Good luck!

I delivered all my children at Provena Mercy. I had my twins there and they were incredible in the NICU unit. LOVED THEM ALL! I have a 2 1/2 year old and 9 month old girls and have been very impressed by Dreyer.

Dr. Natalie Drummond out of Mercy Campus in Aurora is awesome. All my friends see her and was recommended by them. It was a GREAT choice. Very personable and always willing to listen....

Hello C.,
I moved here about two and a half years ago and I know what you are going through. I had a very good experience at Mercy Provena Hospital for a minor surgery which is near you. My Ob/Gyn is wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about her, her name is Teresa Homan. She is in Fox Valley Women and Children's Group which has offices in North Aurora and Saint Charles. That is also the same practice I use for my kids who are presently 8 and 11. I am very pleased with them and the kids like them too which is important to me. The kids have seen three different doctors there which we have all liked. You can choose one pediatrician if that is your preference.
I had some odd medical problems when I moved here and Dr. Homan was very kind and thorough.
For GP I would recommend my Internist but she is in Saint Charles and I don't know if you want to go that far away. She is also excellent. She keeps her appointments on time, she is a great listener, never rushes you and is just great. Her name is Karen Catching. She is in the Greater Valley Medicine Group. I was so grateful when I came here and met such good people. I am picky and have had many bad experiences with obs and pediatricians.
I used to live in Katy Texas, do you know where that is? This is my first posting so I don't know how this works if you want to reply. My own email is ____@____.com
Good luck, M.

Hi C.-
I loved my ped- Dr. Szroka with Dreyer. We had to switch due to insurance and we are now with Fox Valley family physicians with a family dr. who I also like but we have only seen him 1 time.

With my 4th child my OB was Fox Valley Wmen's health partners. I delivered with the midwife at Mercy and it was a positive experience as well
Good Luck

Hi C.!
I've delivered at both Mercy Provena AND Rush Copley. My doctor (Through Dreyer) delivers at BOTH hospitals. His name is Dr. Judson Jones and I really have been happy with him. I used to see Dr. Christopher Olson at Edward and was VERY DISSATISFIED with him.

I was very pleased at both hospitals---Mercy had LARGE delivery/recovery rooms.

Dr. Jones also works within a great network of doctors, so if another is on call if you deliver when he is not on, you are sure to be in good hands....Dr. Motycka, Dr. Espinoza, I've been very happy with all of them.

As for pediatricians......my girls HAVE seen Dr. Natalie and she is FANTASTIC. She is in your area. My girls see Dr. Skurka and we LOVE him, but he is located in Oswego which is a little further for you. He has the BEST nurse, Lana and she is great to call and ask questions, she knows the kids so well and is so welcoming.

Since you're willing to drive, I would highly suggest West Suburban Women's Health in Willowbrook (630)654-BABY and they deliver at Hinsdale hospital. It is an all female practice and I love all the doctors and midwives. Check it out.

Welcome to the midwest! Before moving to Illinois I lived in Texas, too! I lived in Lake Jackson (an hour south of Houston) I've been here for 18 years now. I moved to Streamwood when I got married, but prior, lived in Woodridge (next to Naperville)

Edwards hospital is a great hospital.

I delivered at Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield. (in Feb 2007) (Winfield is pretty close to North Aurora, depending on which part you live in.)
http://www.cdh.org/

I plan to have all of my babies there. They are OUTSTANDING! They are also linked with Children's Memorial and have a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit...hopefully you'd never need that, but it's a comfort to know they are well equipt. They also have great classes--for all interests..but baby related, they have for before and after birth. They also have a great lactation dept.

The best thing I like about Central Dupage is that you're guaranteed a private room your ENTIRE stay....there are no rooms set up for a roommate. This is awesome because those days following delivery, Dad can stay overnight too. (there's a couch in your room) They have newly renovated...everything is new and clean! Another thing I liked was that the Delivery wing is a separate building from the rest of the hospital. It connects somewhere in back...away from the main entrance you enter when you're in labor. --no cutting through the emergency room...you go right upstairs to labor and delivery. Great security, food, and staff! I can't say enough about it!

Ob/Gyn-Female Healthcare Associates has many great Doctors!
http://www.femalehealthcare.com/Home.cfm
I personally like Dr. Steve Binette best. Dr. Lori Hardy, Dr. Doris Wickman, and Dr. Mark Morrison are wonderful, too. They deliver out of Central Dupage as well as other hospitals more north. They have offices in Naperville, Bloomingdale, Elk Grove, and Arlington Heights.

My Family doctor and pediatrician are Hoffman Estates and Arlington Heights, so I don't think that will be much help.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions. I know how frustrating it can be to find good doctors.

Hi C.,

I also live in North Aurora.
Rush Copley Medical Center is a great hospital.
I am currently 6 months pregnant and use Dr. Bernadita Druhan for my OBGYN and also have chosen Dr. Fatima Khan for a pediatrician. They are great doctors. If you visit the hospital's web site you can veiw the bios on the doctors as well as see a photo of them.

Good Luck!

Hi C., welcome to our area. I see Dr. Robert Gallee at Delnor. I really like him as an OB--very attentive and listens to your needs. As far as my daughter goes, we see Dr. Jeff Sroka with the Dreyer Medical Group. He and the entire staff at Dreyer are wonderful. We see him at the Dreyer bldg. on Fabayan Pkwy. in Batavia--should be very close to you. Best of luck!

Hi C., welcome to North Aurora! Many people here mentioned Dr. Druhan and Dr. Andrea Jones, who both work in the same practice out of Rush Copley. Dr. Andrea Jones delivered my daughter and I thought Rush Copley was an outstanding hospital! It's a very new and up-to-date hospital.

My OB/GYN is Dr. Richard Tom, who works with Dr. Druhan and Dr. Jones at Copley OB/GYN Associates/Rush Copley Midwifery. Their number is ###-###-####. I highly recommend them!

As far as pediatricians, I had a very hard time with this and went through 7 pediatricians in 4 months when my daughter was born. One of them I absolutely LOVED, but she was not part of my insurance plan. Her name is Ushma Patel at ABC Pediatrics in Naperville. She works out of Edwards Hospital..she's young, very intelligent and very in touch with kids. I would have kept her if I didn't have such a high co-pay on out-of-network visits. Their number is ###-###-####.

I chose to go with Pediatric Health Associates in Naperville (they also have an office in West Chicago which is only a 15 minute drive from you). My daughter's doctor is Dr. Linda Hamilton, but she also sees Dr. Sunder and Dr. Cole. This is a VERY large practice...you can always get in the same day for any reason, and usually within 2 hours of your phone call. Their number is ###-###-#### in Naperville, or ###-###-#### in West Chicago.

Hope this helps, and good luck with everything!

I absolutely love Dr. Andrea Jones out of Rush Copley Hospital. She was new OB/GYN for me as well when we moved her nearly three years ago...after having had the same OB/GYN for nearly 10 years. I felt like I knew her for forever. She made me so comfortable. She loves what she does, she's very knowledgeable, great bedside manner, and just an overall nice person with a great sense of humor. She made the delivery of my daughter a wonderful experience. Plus she knows some midwiferey techniques that also make delivery way easier. Rush-Copley also tries to make your family and friends involved in any stay you have tere. The hospital was great to me last year when I was very ill, and had a bit of an extended stay. Good luck with your decision.

Hi C.!
As you know, I'm in North Aurora too. I LOVE the Dreyer doctors for my peditricians. I have Dr. Natalie and LOVE her!! I also use Mercy to deliver b/c that's where my midwife is out of. The hospital is wonderful!! I HIGHLY recommend Women First Midwifery. That's where I have been with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies and I absolutley LOVE Dr. Deb Ridell! She is amazing and I am so blessed to have found her. I had my first at CDH in Winfield and it was the worst experience. I felt like a number and they didn't care about me. At Mercy, you have a private room no matter what. The room you deliver in is the room you stay in. The staff is wonderful and treats you like a queen.
If you need any phone numbers, please email me at ____@____.com Luck and welcome!

Edward is the best! They have all private rooms that have couches for dads who can stay all the time. They have rooming in with baby all the time or a nursery if you need to sleep. I had my son there 1 year ago and the nurses are awesome too. I can recommend several OB/GYN's that go to Edward. Dupage Medical Group and Dupage Health Specailists (if you prefer all females) are two of my favorite. I also know many Ped's who come to Edward but I'm not sure where their offices are located. My son goes to Dr Michael Richerts in Naperville who I cannot say enough good about!

I use Dupage Medical Group OBGYN and was really, really happy with them. They have several offices including one at Edward. I delivered my baby girl by c-section in August at Edward; Joseph Martin was the delivery doctor. He was truly wonderful. I was happy with Edward too.

My grandbabies see Dr. Reddy at New Beginnings Ped's in Geneva (Delnor complex). The kids absolutely love her, and so do I. We've seen almost all of the doctors there, and I'm quite comfortable with them.
