Dear Mamasource Community,

I volunteer as a family mentor to an immigrant family through the International Rescue Committee in Oakland, CA. They are Meskhetian Turkish refugees from Russia and resettled in the Bay Area approximately 2 ½ years ago. Their youngest daughter is 19 and was married in December 2007. She is currently 5 months pregnant and in need of maternity clothes. She wears a size small or medium.

Please advise as to where I can get her maternity clothing for free or for a very small cost (I am a student).

Thank you for your help!

What can I do next?

www.freecycle.org is a great place to post wanted or offered items. It is similar to Craig's list (another resource for you), but everything is FREE! There are several freecycle groups throughout the SF bay area, and nationally. I frequently look at the postings in Walnut Creek and Concord.

Hello- I still have a couple of pieces of maternity clothes. I have two pairs of overalls- one olive green, one denim. I also have one black long sleeved maternity top. You are welcome to them- just e mail me privately if you think she would like them and I will give you my address to pick them up. I live in Oakland. If you don't think these are things she would wear, that's okay. You are doing a very kind thing, and I wish this family the best of luck.
