Looking for Lessons in Burleson Area

I'm wanting to take my 8 1/2 month old son to some kind of "Mommy & Me" swimming lessons. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we should go? I've looked around but everything I've found has been in the Dallas area which is too far to drive!

What can I do next?

Hi-

I don't know of any "Mommy & Me" classes but I do train children rescue swim skills. My organization and I work to prevent childhood drownings. It's not just about swimming..it's about surviving.

Just to give you more information about the program: Lessons are one-on-one, Monday-Friday with each student for a maximum of 10 mins per day. It typically takes 4 to 6 weeks for your child to complete the initial lesson series.

Survival Float
Babies 6 to 13 months old are very active and surprisingly quick! The Rollback-to-Float program introduces the correct floating posture for survival as well as the skills necessary to maneuver into a float. Babies learn quickly from their physical environment. This is how they learn to crawl and walk. But water is an unforgiving environment. For this reason aquatic survival skills for the infant and toddler must be taught by a certified ISR instructor. These skills will be practiced for complete mastery even while fully clothed with diaper and shoes. All lessons are taught one-on-one for a period of 10 minutes daily, Monday-Friday. Approximate class length: 4-6 weeks.

SWIM-FLOAT-SWIM Ages 14 months to 6 years
The Swim-Float-Swim program encompasses the skills necessary for a child to reach the steps, edge of the pool or shore. This includes swimming and floating. This process begins with teaching the child breath control and the skills to turn around in the water to grab the edge. As the child becomes capable of longer swims the rollback-to-float is taught so the child can rest and breathe, and then continue swimming. This sequence can be repeated indefinitely until the child reaches safety. These skills will be practiced for complete mastery even while fully clothed with shoes and diaper for those not toilet trained. All lessons are taught one-on-one for a period of 10 minutes daily, Monday-Friday. Approximate class length: 6-8 weeks.

I dont think they do it til later in the summer, but the burleson community center does mommy and me lessons. Search online for the burleson recreation or community center and you should be able to find a summer brochure of upcoming events. Good luck

You might check with your YMCA (if there is one in Burleson). They have parent-child swim classes.

Hi, you can try Emler Swim School in Fort Worth and also Lockheed Martin Recreation Association used to have Mom & me Swim classes that start in the summer. Or like everyone else try the YMCA.
