I have a 6yr. old little boy, he is Autistic/Pdd-NOS. He currently attends an autism program at a Dallas school, which I'm not happy with.We currently live in Carrollton, but fall into the Dallas school district zone. We are considering moving further into the Carrollton school-district. I'm wondering if anyone has an autistic child and could provide some input on any autism programs you've had experience with or heard about in either the Carrollton or Dallas school-district.

Hi, I don't have any advice for you unfortunately, I wish you luck in finding the perfect school though. However, if you don't mind, could you please tell me "who" I can take my son to see to determine whether or not he is autistic? We've seen his pediatrician who tells me he has to be 5-6 yrs. old before they can tell for sure which I see as questionable based on what I've read. He just turned 3 and has also been seen by a developmental pediatric specialist who has basically "placed" him developmentally at the age of 2 but no mention of autism. We KNOW that he has sensory processing disorder and a long list of many other issues which incl. speech delays. Please let me know who diagnosed your son or who you could recommend if you don't mind. Best wishes to you and your family! Thank you... S.

I've heard a lot of good things about programs at the Ann Windle School in Denton.
Here's the info on the DISD website (www.dentonisd.org)
Dr. Ron Arrington, Principal
901 Audra Lane
Denton, TX 76209-4782
###-###-#### FAX ###-###-####

I think Argyle might also have a program .

There's DFW Center for Autism. They are in Grapevine, at 121 and 114. I volunteered there for a while, they are great!! website is http://www.dfwcenterforautism.com/index.asp

There's also the Rise School in Dallas (i think off of Royal and Preston RD). I actually think they are a preschool, but definetly worth looking up.

Hope that helps some

Hello,

My name is D. Grubb. I have a 6 1/2 year old boy with Aspergers or PDD. We live in FlowerMound and are in the LISD school district. I have found his Elementary (Bluebonnet) to be extremely in tune to his needs and he has shown so much progress this year (kindergarten).. The LISD has a great reputation for Autism. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Carrollton is just a skip and a jump from LISD.

Don't know if you'd consider Irving, but they have a wonderful school for Austistic children. You might give them a call.
