Hi, Does anyone know of any good boxing or kickboxing workout dvds? I am particularly looking for one to work out on a free standing heavy bag. Or does anyone have any suggestions for this type of workout?

I don't know for sure if this is what you are interested in, but I love Billy Banks workout Taibo DVD's. You can use a bag for some, but are high impact and a good workout. Use them in between my running schedule. Have fun!

Hi K.,

I agree that Kickboxing is a great workout! But it's so much more fun with real people! Multiform Fitness in Hoffman Estates offers private or small group cardio kickboxing classes. We really mix it up by using a free standing heavy bag and mitts, our Kinesis wall for core conditioning, and instructor held 'target mitts' for a more realistic kickboxing experience. We're in the Huntington Shopping Plaza, on RT. 62, 1 mile east of Barrington Rd.

Kickboxing is great. If you live in the Lake In the Hills area, you should try Focus Martial Arts. Good fitness program and you can get out of the house. Regular gym cloths are accepted, no need to get the fancy spandex if you know what I mean. Give it a try!!

The only tape I have is Tae Bo with Billy Blanks. I don't do good with working with a TV, I enrolled (the family too) in classes. The Kick boxing class I am in is really helping my training with my other classes too. I have a female instructor who does a lot of cardio workouts, and we do one minute intervals on B.O.B. She also teaches self defense for women too. My favorite instructor teachs Shorei Kempo, Hue Long Kung Fu, and Aikido. In our group the classes are free, which is rare, but it is better to find a class. I find myself not making excuses why I can't put the video in.
Good luck finding a DVD you like!

Try Turbo Jam videos! She uses kickboxing and they are a great stress reliever, in addition to great dance music and her enthusiasm. She's not dry and boring like Billy Blanks, nor is she artificial and fake like Denise Austin. She is real, down to earth, and funny. Time just flies when you work out to any of her Turbo Jam videos. I have used them for the last 1 yr and lost 13 pounds and am at goal weight now. U can use a bag when you do the punches and kicks. I have done many, many different DVD's and often grow tired of them after a few months. However, with turbo jam I am still not sick of them. I burn approx 200-300 calories per 30-45 minute session. If u don't think I'm serious about it, check out turbo jam reviews on www.amazon.com
