JFF: Things You LOVED While Pregnant!!

This is my third time being pregnant and there are a few things that I have found that have made THIS pregnancy so much easier/more comfortable for me!!

Is there anything that you absolutely LOVE/LOVED while pregnant/made you more comfortable/etc?

1. My acne has shown up in this pregnancy and my girlfriend turned me on to Black African Soap. It works so well, is so versatile (can be used as hand, body, shampoo, face and for kids) soap that I think I'll use it from NOW ON!

2. I have found that flufflier couch decorative pillows work better for me to sleep with - guess our bed pillows are too 'thin'?

3. Rice pillow that can be heated as worked wonders on my back when I get lower back pain!!

4. Sitting backwards on the couch (ie: feet up where your back usually goes) helps to relieved pelvic pressure.

5. I'm a meat lover by nature...especially rare steak. But since being pregnant this time around, I do not ever crave/want steak/red meat of any kind!

6. Hawaiian punch - could drink gallons of it where as before I could care less about it!

I never used these/did these things with my first two so I thought I would share what I'm loving this time around. I would have added Chocolate...but I love that ALL the time - just more SO in the past few months!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

You can find Black African Soap on Amazon. My friend bought it at a local health store in St. Louis. She got me the liquid type but I envsioned a bar type like you see on Amazon. It's also called Dudu Osun! This is the kind I'm using:

It took me years to fall pregnant and I always thought I would eat healthily when the time came, but I just couldn't stomach salad stuff and vegetables. Instead it was McDonalds! And chocolate! Oh the shame of it. Eventually I got so big I could barely eat (4ft 10inches tall and carrying twins) and just drank milk and orange juice instead. The more I drank the more I desperately needed.
Also, all my pcos symptoms just vanished! I felt normal! It was an amazing time :)

No. The whole thing sucked, and there was never a day I felt comfortable or good.

I guess taking Zofran came the closet, that allowed me to drink water without puking!

Congrats!

During my 1st pregnancy I could never get enough orange juice or root beer! Never together, but orange juice just tasted so good and root beer had a magical taste that I just craved all the time. After having the baby though I couldn't care less if I ever drank another root beer or orange juice. How weird is that!? I do miss the way root beer used to taste though.

With my first...nothing! I puked from 6 weeks till the morning I had him, no joke! Everything smelled bad and tasted worse. Fast forward 10 yrs and with my daughter after about 25 weeks, I had a chocolate shake every single day! Only braums! Everywhere else wouldn't do!

My first was a breeze never had a craving, wasnt sick or in pain. #2 and 3 made up for all that 10 fold. I guess the thing I loved was the belly band with #2 I felt it helped. I would sit on the floor and sleep sitting up... only way to breath with #2 with my son I could not stop Dairy. ANYTHING creamy and bad for you, it went into my mouth.

The only thing I wanted & could stomach during my first pregnancy was Milky Ways, even though I wasn't supposed to have them b/c of my gestational diabetes.

My second pregnancy was steamers & sex, I could've survived my pregnancy on them, except for at the end I craved a Suzy-Q cake and that's what my best friend made me for my b-day. And a bottle of kaluha just after delivery my baby........ahhhh life was good!

Chocolate milk and pear Izzy soda. I remember going around telling everyone that the pear Izzy soda was just the greatest thing in the world! After weeks (maybe months) of doing this, I drank some after the birth. It was still tasty, but not enough that I would have gushed to everyone about it.

I don't think I have ever had Hawaiian Punch. A sip, maybe, but I don't recall.

I loved lemonade. Real, fresh squeezed Lemonade by the litres.

I craved meat with all pregnancies.

I used a body pillow for sleeping on my left side, leg and arm resting atop. And I used a memory foam pillow for all.

I used a elasticed support band the last 3 months as well. Loved that thing.

Never heard of Black African Soap...where do you find it?

My hair and nails were awesome, and you usually could not tell I was pregnant unless you were facing me. And I was thinner after. Miss that. But for chocalate, hated it. I could not stand sweets. My last one I could not stand the smell of cooked meat. That I do not miss.

With both I craved steak, but wanted the medium-rare variety and had to settle for well-done for safety purposes. Yuck. With the first I craved bubble gum (had to be the real stuff, no imitation), and the second it was Juicy Fruit. Bizarre, I don't even chew gum normally, lol.

How funny! I remember with my daughter I craved Stove Top stuffing, so much that I ate 2 big Costco boxes of it, but now, I can't stand the stuff, and I used to love it before I was pregnant.

With my son I CRAVED jalepeno poppers. I had to have them! I went through box after box, and then 7-Eleven got the rolled grillers and I ate so many of them. Did I mention, I DON"T eat hot/spicy food? It burns my mouth and my tummy.

I loved my pillows, and my mom got me a maternity outfit that actually fit. I am plus sized, so that makes it hard to find that actually fits and is flattering.

Oh, and I think the only food I didn't ever throw up was a baked potato, but pretty much anything was fair game. Even saltines and toast dry.

Great Question!

Ketchup/catsup... I don't eat it normally... I ate bottles of the stuff.

Sauerkraut & avocado (I still eat that!)

My sister's car (the seats were sooooo comfy on my back (we actually traded cars when so was pregnant, be ause her by let seats were to die for & she is an AWESOME person)... I actually STILL do most of my "sitting" work (school, phonecalls, etc. in the car). Also, for hot flashes & chills, I could change the whole temp of the car in minutes. I was on modified bed rest... And spent about 10 hours in the car a day (another benefit... Hungry = Drive through).

I CRAVED Hawaiian punch with my first. How funny.

With baby #1: Craved the previously mentioned Hawaiian Punch with loads of ice, Hot Tamales, and pineapple. I ate fresh pineapple every single day. I also discovered the beauty of sleeping with a pillow not only between my knees, but also under my hips. Helped so much.

With baby #2: Only craving was Braeburn apples. Nothing else woudl do. I ate at least two a day. Also, Mother's Bliss for heartburn relief and Burt's Bees for my lips.

Good luck!!

Eel and avocado sushi rolls. I didn't care about the 'no sushi' rule... it was cooked and the only thing I felt like I could eat most nights during my first trimester. Those rolls made me so happy.:)

Vanilla soy steamers in the morning, and pancakes for breakfast. Hated pancakes before then!
