We all have our favorite, easy to obtain and inexpensive lipsticks, moisturizers etc., must have items. Maybe I could learn about what actually works and eliminate some of the needless buying of things that don't. Inexpensive beauty stuff that works, even if it comes from the grocery store! :) Thanks everyone!!

Patty K. I am buying Crisco! Thanks for the tip. I used to use it on my legs but never thought to use it on my face or as an eye makeup remover. Cool!

Are there some specific things you are thinking of that don't work for you?
Could you tell us what they are?

The line between drugstore and supermarket have kind have become blurred.
I almost never walk into a drugstore anymore.

There's a lot in a super market that you can use in ways you might not have thought about - and it's usually cheaper.
Olive oil and coconut oil - great moisturizers for skin and hair.
Vinegar - great for cleaning the house and makes hair shiny.
Baking soda - great for cleaning may things including your teeth and skin.
Sugar and salt can make some great scrubs to remove rough dry skin.
Banana, avocado, and oatmeal - all very soothing for the skin and condition hair well.

Soap and water. Crisco is great make up remover and moisturizer. My aunt used this for 70 years. When she passed away her skin was as soft as a baby behind. So I use A bit of Crisco! Sounds crazy but it works!

Fun Question!

Burt's Bees for my lips during the day, Vaseline at night
Almay Eye Shadow trios
Maybelline Define A Line Eyeliner in black/brown
Garnier Frcutis Marvelous Oil (My only MUST HAVE hair product - LOVE this stuff!!)
Noxzema skin cleanser (I have been using this for almost 30 years. I have tried everything under the sun as a different product for my face, but this is the one I always come back to)

I don't wear makeup often but when I do it's all by Almay. Almay is totally scent-free which is very important to me -- I hate having a lipstick or gloss sitting there directly under my nose stinking all day (and to me, it does stink all day). And their color palettes are natural ones, and the price is reasonable. I have used Almay since I first put on any makeup at all as a teen, and now, my daughter uses it when she does dance shows -- other makeups make her skin break out. Sounds like an ad, I know, but that's the brand I prefer for the lack of scent and the hypoallergenic quality.

Kiss My Face Lavendar and Olive Oil bar. It's incredible. I have really sensitive skin and I can use the on my body, face and hair. And a bar lasts FOUR MONTHS. For $3.75 it's a HECK of a deal.

CeraVe PM face moisturizer.

Chapstick in "Birthday Cake" flavor. It's the best.

Maybelline Full and Soft mascara in dark brown. I've tried "Great Lash" and a ton of others, and always go back to Full and Soft.

Jordana eyeliner in coffee bean. $1 at Walgreens. Also comes in lots of fun colors. :) I love the teal.

Bare Minerals foundation. Not cheap, but right now their HUGE jar is on sale, so if you need to stock up, get to the Bare Essentials or Sephora store!

Dove deodorant. Unscented.

Listerine Whitening Rinse

Glide flosser sticks.

ETA: AquaNet UNSCENTED hair spray. For real, this is still the best of the best....and super cheap!

ETA2: OH! I forgot my favorite scrubby cloth! It's cotton cloth on one side and scrubby loofah weaved on the other. I love it to scrub the dead skin off my face and it leaves my skin soooooo smooth. :-)

I've recently switched to less toxic/chemical beauty products. I use a face wash from Trader Joe's, mineral powder foundation and eye shadow from Tarte, and a few other organic brands for eye color, blush and lipstick. I found that Ulta had a nice selection of organic make up.

I love my Oil of Olay daily moisturizer/sunscreen and Regenerist serum. I also like Salma Hayek's face and hair products, but I think they only carry them at CVS (?)
I'm 46 if that matters.

Neutragena cleansers but like B I get them at the supermarket or Costcos.
Make up Usually from supermarket.

Contact supplies - depends on which I need as to where I get it. Systane can be hard to find at Costco or supermarket and I can't live without it.

Thats about it.

The original black label Chap Stick. I have at least one in every room, carry one in my pocket and keep one in my purse. I LOVE that product and no other chap stick works as well for me.

I LOVE my Trish McEvoy eye serum that I use day and night and her Vitamin C cream that I use at night.

I LOVE my Kaplan MD essential oils that I use on my face and neck every night and day.

I also LOVE the original Noxema for my nighttime face wash.

Oil of Olay daily moisturizer from the grocery store. I have tried expensive moisturizer and come back to this one every time.
And regular old Vaseline for my lips. I keep a small tub by my bed and apply every night.

Lip balm. My lips sting and feel horrible without it. Cherry or strawberry Chapstick and Burt's Bees is what I'm currently using.

I just discovered Neutrogena makeup removing wipes. Now I clean my face before bed, whereas before I would get lazy.

At my age -- lash lengtheners, since my lashes were disappearing without them. I used Latisse for a while, but switched to the less expensive RapidLash, which seems to be working.

Suave Max Hold hair spray.

And my most important routine before showering is to always use a creme cleanser (probably any kind) before using a water-based cleanser in the shower (usually Neutrogena) -- I have discovered that this is the only way to really remove skin and makeup build-up and make my skin glow. Water-based alone doesn't remove all makeup and leaves dead skin and a dry feeling; while an oil-based cleanser alone leaves an oily residue.

Fun question!
