It depends on how heavy it is but yes I had light bleeding after an internal for both of my pregnancies.

Good Luck and hang in there. I know that any bleeding is scary during pregnancy but does not always mean miscarriage.

It's not 'normal' but it's not neccesarily the sign of an impending miscarriage either. Unfortunately, you will just have to wait and see. However, you should defnitley go in for another ultrasound, this weekend if you can. Also, please lay down and rest AS MUCH AS YOU CAN until you've had the u/s. Absolutely no intercourse or exercise/working out. I know this is hard to hear when you are pregnant and desperately wanting to believe that everything is fine. And, it very well might be. I certainly hope so!!! :-) Not trying to scare you, but in my case, it did, in fact, mean that I had lost my baby(s) (happened 3 times, after 2 successful pregnancies. Spotting started around 9-10 wks for all 3, with no cramping. Two of those times were the day after having had internal exams). However, I have heard many stories about how spotting didn't turn out to be a miscarriage, for other people. Bottom line is, you just need to go and check, and then, it will be a watch and wait game for the next several weeks. I wish I could tell you something more reassuring, but having been through it, I now wish someone would have just told me the truth (e.g., 'we just don't know') versus 'everything's fine' and then, it wasn't. I wish you all the best, and try not to worry until you've had the u/s. and please stay offf your feet as much as you can, it is the best thing you can do to try to help your situation. Not trying to be bossy or overly dramatic here, but you do need to take this situation seriously. Don't hesitate to call your doctor, and don't feel 'silly' for wanting to go in as much as you think you need to. I certainly wish someone would have been more firm with me to take it easy, as I might have been able to save my 2nd angel baby. Big hugs to you and your family...

Hi E. I spotted for the first 13 weeks of pregnancy with my second child and had and internal at 12 weeks which made me bleed even more but this subsided after about another 5 days.
Good luck with your pregnancy i will not say "don't worry" because as mothers we cant turn that worry switch off.
All the best

Spotting is not uncommon during pregnacy. It is also the beginning sign of a miscarriage. Call the doctor and rest. But there really isn't a great deal to do to avoid a miscarriage. Real cramping is a sign that a miscarriage is iminant.

A lot of women spot after having an internal exam. Also, spotting in the first trimester is also usual (depending on the woman). If you start bleeding (not spotting) and cramping, call your doctor. You may want to talk to your doctor anyway for the reassurance. Congrats on the pregnancy!

E.,

Spotting isn't unusual after an internal exam while you are pregnant. The tissues are very engorged and it is easy to break a small blood vessel. If you have cramping, the bleeding increases or doesn't go away very soon, call your doctor.

I too had a lot of spotting during my first trimester and was quite concerned. My doctor determined that the spotting was due to the increased blood supply during pregnancy, and not coming from a source that was a danger to the baby. I had some spotting after my internal exam as well. I would definitely let your doctor know about the spotting, but know that others of us had spotting and our pregnancies are moving along smoothly. I never had cramping alongside my spotting which was what reassured me. I was told that if I started cramping as well, that's when I might want to be more concerned. I recall the anxiety associated with this, so I can completely relate to you! I am now 20 weeks and going in for my big ultrasound tomorrow. Best of luck to you!

Take a deep breath and call your doctor. I had bleeding with my son on two different occasions. One within the 1st 12 weeks and then at 20 weeks, both times it was just normal stuff. But, my doc did suggest bed rest both times to let my body adjust to the changes happening without added stress.

Good luck and congrats!!

Aloha,
I had slight spotting after some prenatal exams. But my Doc said it was normal, and it went away quickly.

Just call your Doctor... he/she will know what to ask you, and how to analyze it, and will have you come in for an appointment just in case. Just go according to your Doctor... call him/her. That is what they are there for. If it is off-hours or they are closed, their phone machine should have a "pager" number you can call or the Doctors exchange phone number, where you can call.

Don't worry... or assume anything until your Doctor can assess it.

Take care,
Susan
