I haven't had a period since 08/19/11 I have taken pregnancy test and come back negative I went to the doc. on 10/03/11 they did a pregnancy test neg. So she told me to go back in two weeks if I had not started my period. I took a pregnancy test today in the mrng. Got a positive so when I went to the doctor they did a test and it was neg. I asked her to do a blood test but she refused to do one since she said that there was no point since I had a neg on my test. From 10/03/11 to 10/17/11 I've gain 2pounds and my blood pressure has been high. I don't know what to do anymore

What can I do next?

I would suggest finding a different doctor. You are a customer and they are providing a service. They should have done a blood test when you asked for one.

take another one in the morning. If Positive, take that test stick with you and see another doctor. Tell them what has been going on and to do a blood test, even if it means just to ease your mind.

They might find something else in your blood that might explain this. Ask them to test your hormone levels.

I am sorry you are having a tough time with this. Hope everything turns out ok.

Well, if you are pregnant you'll feel the baby moving before your doc even realizes your pregnant, sheesh.
Just take care of yourself as if you were, just in case.
If you arent, they will probably want to put you on a bc pill to get you to start being regular.

I agree with those who suggest taking another test and if it's positive taking it to your doctor and explain how this is upsetting you and you want to have a blood test to ease your mind. A doctor has to deal with the emotional side of his patient too. But he has to know how strongly you're feeling, first.

My advice is different in that I would go to the same doctor if this is your regular doctor. It only postpones help when you start over with a different doctor. This doctor knows you've been struggling with this and is more apt to pay more attention to your struggles.

First relax because if you are pregnant, this stress isn't doing you or your baby any favors. Take another test and see what the result is. False positives are rare, but they do happen. There is also something called a chemical pregnancy, which is basically a really early miscarriage. You can read about it here http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/chemical-pregnancy.html. That seems like the most likely possibility to me if your next test comes back negative. I also don't know when you tested, but your HCG level is higher in your first morning pee than it is later in the day, so that could be a reason why your first test might have come back positive for you (if you did it in the morning) and negative for your OB (if it was later in the day or if you had a lot of water or something your pee will be more dilute).

I come back faults for about 30 days so it can happen. I suggest just waiting it out. Act lie your preg but don't tell anyone you are. Also did your doctor press your tummy? If she did then s/he was checking your uterus for growth. It could be that she didn't want a blood test because the uterus hasn't grown at all.

Worst case scenario, you could probably go to a pregnancy clinic and explain the situation. They often can offer free ultrasound as well, which would give you visual confirmation even if your horomones are not clear on the tests. My doctor's office never offered blood tests, so maybe it isn't standard, but clearly you need to go someplace where they also care about your peace of mind. I am very fortunate with my OB/GYN office I see. Hope you get some answers soon, but definitely, as others have encouraged you, ACT pregnant! :)

I was pregnant (my third pregnancy) and having negative pregnancy tests for several weeks. I felt pregnant (morning sickness, swollen/sore breasts, etc.) and it was not at all normal for me to miss a period (let alone two or three) unless I was pregnant. My doctor did a physical exam and said all signs pointed to pregnancy, but those could all be explained away for other reasons. She did a blood test and said that it is 100% accurate. It came back positive. I have always wondered if a urine test would have ever been positive, another one was never done after the blood test. It may not be relevant and I don't know if it's related to the negative pregnancy tests, but I ended up miscarrying at 20 weeks.

Try not to stress and try again to get your doctor to do a blood test.
