Hi everyone! My husband is finally graduating from college this December and I don't know what to get him. He doesn't really need anything but I would like to mark this occasion with something memorable. I would like it to be significant yet I am on a budget. I was thinking an engraved silver money clip, is that too cheesy? His degree is in finance, thank you in advance! We are having a dinner party afterwards to celebrate.
Write a good toast for at the dinner party.
My husband told me he was proud of me and that was all I wanted or needed.
A nice frame to display his diploma?
I have had all college kiddos diploma's framed as their BIG start to an "I love me wall" Upon which,they will make many more additions over the years.
For some, I had it 'matted' in their college color...if that seemed important.

Write him a poem.
In your own words. Then put it in a frame. With the date written on it.
And have the kids make him a picture etc.
I've done that.
My Husband grad from college too, a few years ago.
My kids were also SO proud of him.
So proud.

Questions:
Will guests pay for their own meals? If so, don't ask for gifts in your invites.
If you are paying for the meals, that's gift enough to him from you. If guests ask what to buy, tell them gift cards.

My undergrad is in economics and finance as well - love it! I do finance for a living :). My MBA has a concentration in finance.
My parents got me the amazing DSLR camera I was eyeing and my husband didn't get me a gift per say, but he gave me the love and support I had been looking for to have weight loss surgery. He was an absolute angel and that was exactly what I wanted from him :).
I think your money clip is a good idea if you think he'll use it.
Otherwise some other poss ideas:
-very nice pen, silver, comes in a box he can use in his new career
-or how about putting that money in an acct for him or buying a bond or
some stocks since he's in Finance? Just be smart & do your research
first
-a leather covered legal pad for his new career
Since it sounds like a possible desk job, what about an engraved desk pen - the kind that sits in a block of wood. I got my sister one of those and it looks very attractive sitting on her desk.

I think the engraved money clip is a great idea....wrap it nicely and throw in with a bunch of mini 100 Grand candy bars.
Here is my idea inexpensive idea. A gift card to a bookstore with a note that says, "Now go and get a book that you actually WANT to read." That is if he enjoys reading. When my husband and I graduated from college, we couldn't wait to just sit and read for fun. Not for an assignment.
