My daughter decided to paint her toe nails in her room and got purple nail polish on the beige carpet. I don't even know how to begin trying to get this out. I just know I have to before my husband sees it and freaks out. Thanks in advance ladies!
You didn't mention the color or carpet. Regardless, find out about IMMACU-10. If you're local to the Indy area, I know of someplace you can get it. A quart runs $20 and lasts FOREVER because, in most cases, you dilute it. NON chemical product....enzyme based. I use it on laundry, windows, floors, etc. Saves A TON on extra cleaning products and NON toxic!!
I am a nail tech, and this has happened to me several times! And now that my 2 year old is very much into painting her nails, well, let's just say I have gotten it out of carpet, the couch and a chair. She just won't sit still long enough for it to dry! Anyway, if you live near a Sally Beauty Supply, you can get a product called Nail Polish Thinner. It takes a few minutes, before the polish dries, dab, NOT RUB, it up as much as possible, then squirt the polish thinner, dab some more, and repeat. It has taken me maybe 3 times to get stains up, but you don't have to wait for the thinner to dry before you can try again. This also works on clothes if you get some on your shirt while painting! Nail polish remover should disolve it and use a old rag to clean it up.If it leaves a spot on the carpet you could always get a throw rug for that part of the floor.It was obviously a accident and to fear your husband finding out is weird to me.Kids have accidents as they grow up.Things get broke ,ruined etc. it is part of growing up. I would tell your daughter to be more careful and take her nail polish away from her for awhile or only let her use it in a certain area of the home with supervision until you feel she can use it with out making another mess.
Good luck with this one...lol. I had this issue about 6 months ago. I tried all sorts of cleaning concoctions to no avail. I just ended up scrubbing it totally dry with a stiff dry toothbrush. It sort of lightened it up a bit. Then about 4 months later, we had our carpets steam cleaned and that took up the rest of it. I can't imagine how, but it did.
A., there is a product called Goof-off you can get it at your local carpet store, it's in a tin can and smells like lighter fluid, but I guarantee it will get anything out of your carpet, it got red candle wax out of our light beige carpet!!! Good luck!
A., I'm assuming it's dry by now... when I owned my own carpet cleaning company, someone spilled a whole bottle of (slut) red on WHITE carpet...now we ALL have a good picture of how red this was, right?? :) Use a NON-ACETONE nail polish remover. If you use regular, you will simply melt your (plastic) carpet. DAB, don't rub. Use q-tips or WHITE towels. Beige ones could transfer color onto your carpet. Good luck!
I feel your pain. My stepdaughter spilled bright pink nail polish all the way down the stairs (beige carpeting). To make matters worse, I was trying to sell my home at the time!! I used nail polish remover. I poured it on the spots, and let it sit for a minute, then scrubbed with a makeup remover pad. It took A LOT of time, but it finally came out.
Lowes also sells a line of products called Motsenbockker's Lift Off. There are different formulas for different stains. I think #5 works on nail polish. Check out this website: http://www.liftoffinc.com/
There is also a product called Goof Off that might work. I've used it for paint, but not nail polish.

You may also consider just cutting it out of the carpet, if it didn't seep all the way to the bottom. I spilled nail polish when I was young while we were trying to sell our house, and that's the best my mom could do. Good Luck!
