I have had a Hotmail account for 12 years. I locked myself out since I forgot the password. After I completed the "forgot my password form" they say they can not confirm the account is mine. I tried to submit another request and they say the account doesn't exist. Hummmm so I try to create a new email account with the exact same email address and they say it is already in use. Another hummm. So now I am trying to figure out how to contact Hotmail to get my email account back. Does any one have any ideas how to contact them?

TIA

As of 1 Marchh 2013 - I THINK - hotmail moved to "outlook" as Microsoft tries to improve their foothold in the technical world.

Try using your e-mail address with the outlook.com extension and see if that works.

If not - then you need to go this link: http://www.hotmail.com it may automatically change to http://www.live.com

Depending upon how long it has been since you logged in to your Hotmail account - you should have received this e-mail....telling you about the change to Outlook.com

Soon, your Hotmail inbox will be automatically upgraded to Outlook.com. You can also upgrade quickly now by clicking the button below.
The data from your Hotmail account—your address, password, old emails, contacts, and settings—will stay the same. When you upgrade to Outlook.com you also get great benefits like:

Streamlined design — Outlook.com shows you more messages in the inbox and helps you get more done with fewer clicks.
Familiar Hotmail tools and more — Many of your favorite Hotmail features like Sweep and Instant Actions are still here, along with 7GB of SkyDrive storage and free Office Web Apps. Soon, you'll be able to use Skype right from your Outlook.com inbox.

You should have received twisted numbers and letters under your sign in boxes and that would have helped you as well. You can also go here:

Good luck!

Hotmail is no longer in existance, the accounts were moved to Outlook.com. Everything in the accounts was moved. Try going to Outlook.com and contacting them to see if your account can be retrieved.

Mom,

Have you gotten into your e-mail yet? Hotmail was changed over to Outlook already. I am still getting used to it. I do have a few tips for you. We use Firefox browser, have it set to remember passwords. When you get into your e-mail again, have it set to stay logged in.That way when you open the page, you are already signed in. I have my homepage set to Msn.com,when I open that page,I get signed in automatically.

Good luck

This is not at all helpful, but I seem to remember that another company was taking over Hotmail and making changes. It might be a technical glitch. Try Lil's suggestion. Good luck!
