Hi ladies. I am hosting a book club dinner at my house next week. I am stumped on what to serve. It is during the week so it has to be something easy. Usually it is something light and something sweet. We are reading and discussing Twilight. I was hoping to go with a theme that coincides with the book. I know there are some really creative women out there who may have some great ideas! HELP!!! This is my first time hosting and am hoping to make a good impression on my new friends.

What can I do next?

Sorry but I do not know about the book at all but......
How about a salad bar? You can do what ever you want as far as toppings. It just take's time to cut things up which you can do the night before. So that evening all you need to do is pull it out. Then for dessert you could have a sundae bar! Ladies love these kind of things! Good Luck!

Hi R.,

What if you did some mushroom ravioli 'bites'. I'm sure there's a way to toast them up and dip them. It's what Bella had when she was out to dinner with Edward. Then, what about velvet cake cupcakes (blood red:) for dessert.

Have you ever tried anything from Tastefully Simple. I have a friend who sells it and she may have some stock at her house. They have a great line. You only need 2 or 3 ingredients and they taste great. Now sure how soon your party is but they ship really fast too if you wanted to order online. They are very inexspensive too. I also had a surprise bday party for my hubby last year with about 20 people and made my "famous" chicken. Fast easy and delicious. There is a seasoning pack by Grill Mates called Zesty herb. Make it according to the directions. Chop up some chicken breasts into small to medium chuncks and put them in your crock pot-hope you have one, then pour the seasoning over it. Set it on low all day and your done. That can be added with just about any side. The small to medium chunks makes it go a long way. Good luck

R.,

I'm not sure if you're looking for appetizer ideas or something for the main course but here is the recipe for a great appetizer.

You want to use whole water chestnuts and brown sugar. Also, it's best to use La Choy soy sauce as Kikoman can be too sweet. The soy sauce provides a good salt flavor to compliment the sweetness of the sugar.

I bake them on a grate so the bacon grease can drip to the pan below.

Even if you don't care for water chestnuts you would never know what these are made of...they're just awesome!

Good luck!

Hi R.,

I don't know if you are serving dinner or if it is just appetizer/snack stuff. If I remember correctly, the first "date" Edward and Bella have in Port Angeles (when he rescues her), she orders Mushroom Ravioli. You could get some frozen Meijer brand ravioli and serve with french or garlic bread. We had the chicken and herb ravioli once and my family liked it. Otherwise they have cheese and beef too.

For dessert, since there is an apple on the cover, I would serve something apple. The fruit salsa another poster recommended is very good. I made it for a neighborhood picnic.

Sounds fun!!
