Help! Gifts for a 12 Year Old??

So my step-daughter is become more and more difficult to buy gifts for! In our home, we don't do a big Christmas (everyone gets new pjs to wear to bed on Xmas eve and then a Santa gift and 1 or 2 family gifts Xmas morning), but her grandparents are already asking what to buy her.
*She gets a "Painted Pony" collectable every Christmas from "Santa".
*She loves reading, but is only at our home 2 weekends a month (and every other week in the summer) and has a zillion books that she has yet to read.
*She loves the outdoors and has been begging to go out hunting with my husband so he's taking her along this year - but she just had a birthday where she got boots and gloves and a face/neck mask and a coat for hunting.
*She likes crafty things, but she has so many crafting supplies already!
*She has more clothes than i do! (Althought she did ask for leggins since all she has is jeans, so that's one idea)
*Gift cards and money are so boring but that's all she asks for! I know her grandparent's want to give her something more fun than that, but i can't think of ANYTHING!

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions of things a 12 year old girl might love? Thanks for any ideas!! :)

ETA: Love the MP3 idea! unfortunately she already has one at each home, plus has a cell phone that her mom bought her and we bought a huge memory card for it for her birthday so she can use that as an mp3 player too! but she's constantly listening to mp3s so that was a good idea!

What can I do next?

Does she wear jewelry? Maybe a nice necklace or earings.

She likes the outdoors, what about paying for an outdoor experience like a kayaking trip?

How about a gift card to a music site so she can get some new music for the mp3 player?

How about an experience instead. Take her to a concert, a play, a sporting event, a special day out doing something you would all enjoy together. Take an art/craft class together or take her to pick out and paint some pottery if she would enjoy that.

I was just talking about a similar situation with my nephew- the kid has everything!!

My husband and I still wanted to do something to celebrate, so now every year we plan a day together. It ends up being about the same amout of money and we think its an even better way to use it.

If the grandparents are able, they should all plan a day together. Go to a movie or attend a craft class together.

Hope your step daughter has a wonderful birthday!

A pair of earrings or a necklace with her birthstone would be nice. Does she have a case for her mp3 player? They make covers to keep them from getting scratched. Passes to the movies? Good luck!

I think a CHEAP MP3 player ... not an IPod may be a good way to go based on the hunting thing, she might like it at night as a wind down/calming thing before sleeping. Hunting can be very emotional for anyone simply because it is physically and often mentally taxng access to something like music might be just what the Dr. ordered and then it can be another gift FOR hunting/camping etc. Just a thought.

Itunes gift cards, make-up kit (browns, subtle colors) mani/pedicure gift certificate, movie dvd's, jewelery, accessories are also good. My 14 yr old wanted a day at the Mall for her birthday - it happened to be back-to-school shopping time anyway - so we were able to spend b'day money and back to school and had fun too - went out to lunch, etc.

This is from my 13 yo daughter (mostly):
Art lessons and stuff
Horse lessons
Fingernail polish in lots of fun colors/ fun makeup
Airsoft gun (my son loves them)
Shoes
Hair care stuff (flatiron, blow dryer, clips, etc.)
Laptop computer? maybe too expensive
I like the idea of events (like going to the movies or an amusement park - you can put a coupon in a card)
If there is an amusement park nearby, season passes
That's all we can think of for now.

Is she responsible? If so, consider having the grandparents contribute to teh family gift and get a Kindle. She loves to read and there's no more room on the shelves! It would last a while and people can give her gift cards to purchase more titles.

Take her to a play (that you would enjoy too) or do ceramics together. Every year my Mom takes my two girls to paint/design Christmas plates - we have over 20 now, it's fun to use at Christmas and look at how their art has improved.

I asked my grand daughter what would be a good gift since she is the same age. She said jewelry! She said all girls like jewelery! Necklaces, rings, bracelets!
