Help Cleaning House!!!

I am a mother of two, a 3-yr-old and a 4-mth-old. I am finding it hard to get my house clean. I am only able to keep up with the daily loading and unloading the dishwasher and making meals, but I never have time to do basic cleaning and it's getting gross! I would like to find someone in my area that does house cleaning. I would prefer someone with their own business rather than a large cleaning company like Merry Maids. Can anyone recommend someone?

What can I do next?

Merry Maids is expensive. You can probably find someone less expensive on Care.com.
I can totally tell you that I see you have your hands seriously full. Is there a time they are all down for naps?
If so, in the morning while they are eating breakfast, put in a load of laundry, then at some point during the day take it out and put it in the dryer. While they are napping, fold them and put them away.
Then make a list of what needs done and you can keep up on it, have it only take 45 minutes out of your day and have your weekends free! Promise.
Mondays- Do bathrooms (I clean two bathrooms fully in 35 minutes) Spray tubs/showers with scrubbing bubbles, come back rinse it clean and wipe off hard water stains, clean the toilet, wipe down surfaces with Clorox wipes and clean the mirrors, done.
Tuesday-Dust the whole house.
Wednesdays-Change everyones bedding, clean the kitchen really well.
Thursday-I clean up dog poop, change litter boxes and clean the fish bowl this day.
Friday-Depends on what needs done and some Fridays nothing. I do go in and organize the playroom since I do part time daycare. I clean and sanitize the toys some Fridays.

I vacuum daily, get the garbage out and do the dishes.
I have nothing to do on Sat or Sun other then just the basics cleaning up after meals, a load of laundry. If you do a load a day then you won't spend a day doing 12 loads.

I spend no more then one hour doing daily chores, I used to do it when my son napped however he is afternoon preschool and my daughter is at school so I have that time. I do part time daycare from home so my house can get cluttered and toys everywhere really fast. My rule is if you get it out, put it back where it was. I made very kid friendly plastic tubs so everything has a place, barbies have a box, trains have a box and so on. It isn't neatly put away, but it all has a place and is off the floor. Same with books and so on. You can make a game out of it for your two older ones and it is never too early to teach them to help.
My kids have to put their own folded laundry away, they have to put dirty dishes in the sink, put their toys away and put their dirty clothes in the hamper when they change clothes.

Hang in there.. Care.com just started a section with house keeping I believe...

I know it can be hectic with little ones however unless money is no object try making a schedule and enlisting the aid of your 3 year old. Strip the beds on Monday (this can be fun with a 3 year old make a pile of sheets for them to jump into), Bathrooms on Tuesday, Dust and Vacuum on Wednesday and Kitchen on Thursday. On Friday's due a quick run through during naps and keep up with wash daily. Your 3 year old can help by sorting colors for the wash and matching up socks. Three year olds love to dust! Good luck and God bless. E

Boy do I hear you!!!

I was just having this very same conversation with a friend of mine who has two kiddos under 5 -- and is on a budget that does not have room for a housekeeper.

She turned me on to flylady.com.

It's an amazing sight that walks you through how to keep your house good and clean (really deeply clean) in 15 minutes a day! I'm really picky about my home being clean, but I've been absolutely overwhelmed with my new business, full-time motherhood and a too big house, and it's not gotten the attention it deserves. And every extra penny we have is going into my business, so a housekeeper is out of the question.

I've been amazed at how easy it is to just follow the daily emails, do what they tell me to and not worry about the rest. And yes, my house is looking MUCH better and is CLEAN with very little worry and work.

Check it out.

Blessings,

M.

We have a gal in our church who does house cleaning. She's actually on our staff. If you're interested, I could give her your contact information to contact you, or I'll ask her if I can give you hers. We have AWANA tonight, so I'll see her there and ask her if she's taking anymore clients.

I am on staff at a church in Westminster (LIFE Fellowship). My husband moved here from California when we got married. He sure misses the ocean!

I set asside 1/2 hour before I go to bed each night. I have a chart of what I want to clean on that day. I take Sunday's off. Have your 3 year-old help with the cleaning too. You'd be amazed at what you can get done with one in a nap and 3 year old spending one on one mommy time.
