My OBGYN of several years used to deliver in Presby Plano, well I am pregnant with my third child and freaking out because seems that I am going to deliver in a totally different hospital. My OBGYN now is going to deliver only at Medical Center in Plano, this would be my first time delivering somewhere different and need to know any experiences that you guys might had there. This will help me to know how this hospital serves their patients. Please respond and help me with any advise that you guys might have. It has been a while since my last one and I feel like a brand new mom again. Thank you so much for your support.

What can I do next?

Hi I.,

I used to do Anesthesia at Presby Plano and therefore decided to have my son at Medical Center of Plano in 2005. I had a wonderful experience there. I would recommend going there. I am delivering my daughter there in June. Congrats and best of luck to you.

I delivered my first last May at Plano Medical Center. It went perfect! The labor and delivery nurses are GREAT and I really liked the nurses in the nursery and while I was in my normal room. The food was really good (especially the fruit plate). I had a great stay there with no problems. When I needed something it was taken care of right away.

The only problem that we had was the chair that turned into a bed for my husband...it was horrible!!! But I had a nice stay!!

Good luck! I've heard plano presby is a nice place, but Medical Center is a nice place too...

I also delivered in June 07 at PMC. They were WONDERFUL. The nursing staff was fantastic and we were VERY well taken care of. I was concerned because most of my friends did Plano Presby. They will give you a tour if you want one prior to delivering and they were more than accessible for anything we requested.
I think you will really like it.

I delivered my son at Medical Center Plano in 2006 and had a great experience. The L&D nurses were great and my son was in the NICU for 2 weeks and I couldn't speak highly enough about those nurses.

I have also had 2 other surgeries there - one because of a car accident and then I had my appendix removed last year. It truly is a great hospital with great staff and nurses.

I am currently pregnant and my doctor has switched over to Plano Presby and I am nervous about that - exactly opposite of what has happened to you.

I delivered last year at Plano Medical Center, it was my first time delivering there. I was very pleased with my whole experience there. The staff was awesome and had such a great bedside manner. I had a C-section so I was there for 4days, but the whole time was a wonderful experience. The food wasnt even too bad. LOL I would definitely recommend this hospital to all that asked about it. If you havent already, the hospital will also give you a tour of the labor and delivery. Good Luck, and no worries!

I would recommend Medical Center in Plano to anyone. My daughter was born there 14 years ago and my younger sister 30 years ago. My niece worked there until she moved and my OBGYN was "Chief of Staff" a few years ago. My dad was there last year for minor surgery and they treated him great. I have never found any of the nurses or doctor disrespectfull. I live in Allen and I would still perfer go to Medicial Center of Plano over any other hospitals in Allen, Plano, McKinney or Frisco.

I delivered my first child at Presby and was not impressed at all. Nurses were inattentive and ignored my complaints that my epidural was not working. So, when I ended up having to undergo an emergency c-section I could feel the doctor cutting. Then they decided to listen to me and give me more anesthesia. Even after the delivery, the nurses were rude and took over an hour to answer calls about me having excess bleeding and discouraged me from taking pain meds. I just had a c-section!!! I delivered my second baby at Medical Center of Plano, and wow what a difference! I loved it there and would recommend it to anyone over Presby! Absolutely wonderful nurses! They were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are really nice too.

I had my first two by c-section there and will be having my third in 2 weeks and 5 days....not that I am counting down or anything! :)

My experiences have been great. I don't like the hospital nurse who takes blood from you the day before your c-section (she is a hospital nurse, not a L&D nurse). She is rough and serious and not very pleasant. However, all the nurses in the C-section prep, post surgery, and nursery were FABULOUS.

All rooms are now private. They weren't back when my son was born but we did end up in a private room anyway. For both my kiddos, we were in these huge rooms with an entire seating area for family and friends. The rooms were VERY spacious and comfortable.

I have enjoyed (as much as one can after a c-section) both my experiences with Medical Center of Plano.

Good luck!

I delivered my son at Plano Medical in June 07'. I loved everything about it :) The nurses were phenomenal...very caring and attentive. Infact, I was in labor for 24 hours and the first nurse that took care of me left because her shift was over, and then came back several hours later just to check on me and see how things were going! I was very impressed with the entire staff. The food was also really good, but the hubby didn't get his for free...which was, in my opinion, sort of a rip, so be prepared for that! I wouldn't worry about anything because I think you'll really enjoy your experience! Good luck and congratulations!!

We just delivered our son by c-sect there in Oct. It was the best experience I've had. We actually stayed as long as the doc would let us. The nurses were awesome and the couch turned into a bed, so there was plenty of room. We delivered our daughter by c-sect in July 06 at Plano Presby and I had the worst experience all around. I begged my doctor to leave a day early. I had a spinal block and epideral and it all wore off after 3 hours. At Med Ctr Plano I just had an epideral and it lasted forever. They made me so comfortable throughout the entire stay. Congrats, good luck and don't worry. They will take amazing care of you.

I delivered at Medical Center in Plano 2 years ago. It's a very nice facility. I like that they have "room service" so you can order food whenever you are hungry (Medical Center in McKinney did not have this..yuck.)

The NICU is one of the best. The NIC team was called in for precautionary reasons when I delivered.

If you trust your doctor, then you should also trust the hospital with which he/she decides to use. Which doesn't help a lot, I know. But, you can get a tour of the LDR rooms. Call the hospital and find out when you can tour the place. That might make you feel better.

I had my twins there last July 07 and my 2 year old there in Sept 05. I also had my almost 8 year old there in 2000. I had a wonderful experience there every time. The nurses actually work for the hospital, not for a contracting service so they truly care about their patients and their jobs. The food is great and all of the staff that I came in contact with were clean and careful. The billing department has not been so pleasant, unfortunately. We had difficulty getting everything straightened out with having two of everything for the twins. But I am still not sure how much of that was my insurance. I had surgery at Baylor Plano in August of 2006 so I compare Med. Plano to that place - Baylor Plano was awful!

I delivered both my 6 years old daughter and my 21 month old son at Medical Center in Plano. I have no complaints whatsoever about the hospital. Both of my deliveries were C-sections. The nurses were wonderful. Everything, including the recovery room, was good. I don't know how it compares to Presbiterian, but to me, this was great.

Good luck to you.

I., You have received a lot of nice responses. I didn't deliver at Plano but I used to work there. My doctor didn't go to Plano at the time. I agree that the ladies I worked with in L&D were wonderful. They do not use agency/contract nurses so everyone is a hospital employee. They are considered a 'nurse-friendly' facility. That means they try to make things nice for nurses so they will want to go to work. I only quit to stay home with my kids full-time. I hope you have a safe and wonderful delivery.

I delivered my second son there in 2006 and had the best experience. I requested a suite and although they didn't have one at the time I delivered (c-section), they moved me the next day. The nurses were wonderful and the food was great....especially the chocolate cake! Good Luck and don't worry about a thing, they will take very good care of you and your baby.

My daughter is 13 and I delivered at Medical Center Plano. I have had nothing but good experiences there. I have a wonderful Dr. (Rovner). I had hysterectomy there in 2000 as well as several out patient procedures before I opted for the hysterectomy.

Also, my husband was almost killed in a car accident when my daughter was 3 months old and that hospital was a god send to us as for the specialists and services available to us to help him fully recover. He was in ICU for about 3 days and then out of the hospital in a week or so but they had follow up care.

Medical Center of Plano would be a first choice for me due to my prior experience.

I certainly understand your situation because you probably feel as strongly toward Presby as I do with Medical Center of Plano. I would also be feeling uncomfortable with changing things right now if it were me. I hope you get some positive feeling from my response. I am sure you will get a lot of pros and cons on both hospitals.

Good luck to you.

I delivered at Plano Medical in June 07 and loved the hospital and staff. As others have mentioned, the staff is very attentive, the food is great, the rooms are comfortable and the environment is very relaxing. The staff answered my many questions at all hours of the day/night and I never felt uncomfortable in requesting help.

If I have another child, I'm definitely going to Plano Medical.

I can't say enough good things about the hospital or its staff.
