Hair-styles and Colors; Would Love Some Advice...

So, I'm due to get my hair cut and colored and really would like something different. Color has been darker brown for the last 2.5 yrs. However, I used to have lots of highlights. Since it's Summer, I'm really thinking about going blonder like I used to have it. II would appreciate opinions on this, though. I'm struggling with how to get it cut...

I've been wearing it almost shoulder length and wouldn't mind keeping it that length or growing it, but I'm really ready for a change.
My face shape is rectangular-wider forehead and jawline. I have bigger eyes, but not really other prominent features. Feel free to look at my photo to really see me...(Ha! ha!)

I want to look younger than I am. Are there any tricks to the trade to do this with hair?

What can I do next?

The best thing I can tell you is that in general, longer hair makes you look younger.

Every person I know - myself included - looks 10 yrs old than they are with shorter hair.
And let's be honest...those cute little bobs that all the stars are wearing right now, translate into something dowdy and frump in real life.

Just my thoughts.

I dyed my hair for about six months and HATED it! It looked fine the first week, but then it would gradually fade to this odd orange tint (even though it was brown) and once I started, I couldn't get off the carousel! Had to keep dying it to cover up the bad dye. I finally, two years later, just chopped off the rest of the ugly dye. So proud of my silver (not grey). I told my kids it's my "hair jewelry" that they gave me!

But I agree - look up pictures of what you want on line and then show it to your stylist. Good luck.

I'd stay with your darker brown and highlight that with shades of blonde!!!

Are your brows dark? If so, blond hair and dark brows sometimes don't go well together. At least, they didn't for me. Red dye makes my hair auburn, which looks much better with dark brows.
With my hair dyed, I get carded to buy alcohol and tobacco, and I'm nearly 50.

Sure - go lighter. Why not.

Ask your stylist what she suggests. If you have a natural wave, get a long bob that you can either blow straight or scrunch up for a cute summer look. You can even cut more of a bang in and sweep it to the side.

Have fun! You are cute - so you'll look great!

The best thing to do is to google hair 2014 images. You look like you have a nice chin for an A-line to me, but it all depends on if you want a fun cut, business, serious, etc.

I don't think you have such large features that anything needs to be covered.

I have heavy wavy hair that grows quickly.

sometimes I go for a hallie berry uber short pixie.
sometimes I go for a dame judie densch utilitarian old person cut (which looks cutting edge and ironic if not sexy on a young mama).
sometimes I go for a goldie hawn loose shag haircut.

Ask your stylist what he/she recommends. look through a lookbook together. you might find yourself liking something you never would have considered.

Best,
F. B.

PS- if you have your hair highlighted, and cut uber uber short, the sides and back might look wierd (kind leopardish).

My hair is about bra length...

I have been anxiously awaiting grey hair (s) as they will spice up my boring brown hair! When I was younger, I permed, tinted, 'frosted' and tried ALL manner of hairstyles.

Now I want simplicity. I usually wear it in a bun now...And, it does have some 'mini face lift' qualities!

I have a little grey at my temples...(and my right eyebrow for some reason), and if it comes in as I hope, I will look 'blondish'.

I am 54, and I have EARNED my grey! lol

Hair will grow back...I say take a risk if you really want a change!

Best!
