Green Jello Salad Recipe

I was at a picnic a little while back where someone had made this delicious green jello salad. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to ask for the recipe. It was made with green Jello, pineapple, and chopped nuts, and had whipped cream, cream cheese or something. (It might have had coconut in it too, but I can't be sure.) I have been looking for the recipe online. However, all of the recipes that look as if they might be what I am looking for, are molded in a bowl or gelatin mold. The salad that I had was not molded. It was more of a green goo, for lack of a better description. Do any of you know what I am talking about and have the recipe?

Thanks!

-Drain pineapple and keep juice
-Add 1 cup hot water to jello in large bowl, stir until dissolved
-Add the pineapple juice

Sounds like Watergate Salad. I don't care for it and don't have the recipe but with the name you should be able to get a recipe or two.

I have heard that the same thing w/ Watermellon Jello (pink) is Ambrusia Salad.

We make what Sarah C is talking about... same way except we use strawberry jello and put crushed pineapple in it.

That's exactly what my mum makes. The recipe is like LLK's description (but she also adds dates).

The thing is... HALF the time it's in a mold, and releases beautifully. The other half of the time it sticks to the mold and breaks up or doesn't quite set. That's when she just ends up 'stirring' it and serving it in a bowl/ it's just kind of green goo.

Sounds like what I make, but with more ingredients. Mine is just a tub of cool whip, a tub of cottage cheese and a packet of jello powder. Stir and chill.

When my grandma made that, it's base was cottage cheese, jello, and cool whip (not cream cheese). It's also really good with mandarin orange slices, and I've also seen it made with mini marshmallows. I don't like the chopped nuts in them!

Here it is with a picture and recipe (this one is pink/strawberry pineapple though):

another version without the cottage cheese:

I havent heard of doing it that way before. My family always just made it with lime jello, chopped apples, and celery.

I might have to try this one lol.

my grandma use to make something similar and last year for thanksgiving I wanted to make it (she passed away about 4 years ago and we haven't had it since, I thought it would be a nice memory) anyway - to my surprise, it was made with cabbage?!?!?! Sounds wierd but it was just what she use to make. Any chance it's what you are thinking of? (picture on website)
