Going Rate for Babysitters - Redwood Estates,CA

Hi ladies! My family never uses baby sitters so I don't know what going rates are. I have arranged for a 16-year old girl with a lot of experience to supervise a group of children for a couple hours. There may be 4-6 kids and probably 4-8 years old. What is the going base rate per hour? Should a certain amount be added for each additional child more than 1 or 2?

Thanks so much!

I pay my college age babysitter $10/hour for 1 very active 3yr old. Our babysitter is First Aid/CPR certified so that might be something to ask your sitter about too.

Although we have not used a babysitter yet either, my understanding is that most charge somewhere between $10-$15. per hour. I'd ask around in your area.

Well the high school girls are usually less but in high school, and fresh out of high school, I made around 7 dollars an hour for only 2 kids. I did go for less for family friends though, so you probably just need to ask her. For that many kids, I would guess around 10 dollars and hour.

I recently asked on a moms group about babysitting and the only mom who responded paid 15 dollars an hour for her college age babysitter. Again, though you will have to ask :-)

Hi A.,

The going rate for a lot of babysitters is $5/hour, but you might ask the girl. Especially with all the extra kids she may want to charge a little more.
