SIL just found she and my brother are expecting twins today..want to send them a fun gift for the family - they have an 8 and 12 y.o. They live in Dallas - me in Chicago...my creativity is blocked on short notice...any ideas for what I could call up and order for them in the next day or two that the family might also enjoy. Just something that says YEAH and fun!

What can I do next?

Edible fruit arrangements! With a baby theme? Healthy and yummy for all. I put the link in case you liked it. I saw a commercial about it once.

Congratulations! When my little one was born, my sister sent us a gourmet grilling basket rather than more baby clothes. It was a great gift and so thoughtful! With new babies coming and their year-round warm weather... having some new foods to try at home could be fun!

Can you order in breakfast or dinner for them for several days? or say Monday and Tuesday for a month or two? Long distance take out. Call to chains which you know make deliveries, order 1.5x or 2 times that which you think is necessary.

Let B, and SIL know that you will be doing this so they don't have food arriving at the door when they've just put a roast in the oven. Boston Market, Olive Garden, Dominoes, even their local sushi joint should be happy to take your credit card and accommodate a third party delivery location.

Food is fun, it takes the pressure off, and best of all, its a consumable.

A gift certificate to sitter city, 3 tix to the local water park etc (for kids and sitter) might be a nice treat too.

Good luck to you and yours,

Maybe a pregnancy journal suitable for twins? And something for older kids helping them get ready for the chaos!

I would think she'd be really tired with 2 kids on the go and 2 kids in her belly, so maybe some household help through a chain like "The Maids"?? It's not "fun" but maybe more useful!

Not sure of your budget. Love the cleaning lady idea and the edible arrangements. What about Omaha steaks? They deliver anywhere and have chicken, hot dogs and burgers, fish and potatoes, not just steaks. Everything is frozen so you can cook it when you want.

Funny. I have twins and am moving to Dallas. There are lots of multiples all over. Anyway, I liked the Dr. Seuss onsies "Thing 1" and "Thing 2." Definitely thought they were cute, even though we try not to dress our twins alike as all the research talks about treating each one like an individual to help raise emotionally healthy twins. I definitely encourage you, as a relative, to help with that (and not buy two of the same exact outfits or two of the same exact toys) as the kids get older. One of the most helpful books, though, is Dr. Luke's book "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads" as it really focuses on nutrition (which is totally different with multiples) as well as other tips. That is definitely a useful gift. Maybe not fun like you are looking for, but it is needed early in the pregnancy. Cleaning help and dinner help are important too, as the fun is just beginning!
