I know nothing about what an 8th grade boy might like. I do know that he enjoys school, likes to read, and is into science. Any ideas in the $10.00-$20.00 range? (I'm trying not to give money or giftcards.)

What about introducing him to a new book series. You can go to Barnes and Nobles online and look at the different series they have to offer for his age. If you know what he may like you can read about the different series that hey offer. You can buy him 1 or 2 to get him started to stay in your budget. A few that I know that have been enjoyed by my son and nephews are:

I have a 6th grade boy, however, we went shopping the other day to get ideas for his sister (8th grade) and he told me he needed deodorant and body spray for PE, I know walmart and other stores have those Axe christmas packages, so I bought him that. I know he's a little younger but if he's asking for stuff like that, I know older boys are wanting to smell good too. I also think remote control things, boys like at any ages...
