Hi all,
a not so serious question here... just wondering if anyone ever got/tried the Fushigi Ball "as seen on tv" type thing. (If you go to Amazon, they have it).

Yah I know its just about 'contact juggling" , but was thus wondering IF (a) the Fushigi ball is just a gimmick because (b) contact juggling can just be done with any ol' ball... right?
Because the Fushigi Ball is SOOOO expensive!

Was thinking of getting it for my Husband. He likes things like that....

Another Question: Yoga Mats. They come in varying thicknesses... but to me... they ALL look so thin to me and like they won't even 'cushion' you... my Husband has one and he said he still feels the HARD floor underneath... and its thin. And plus the thicker yoga mats are SO expensive! So what thickness mat... is best? Thicker the better... I assume?
I was gonna get him that too... for Christmas... but I am NOT going to pay $29 dollars for a mat.... which is what even our outlet store had it for...
Oh... and are "yoga socks" needed or handy???? If just doing it on a floor without a Mat???
I have seen those Yoga Gloves too...
I am getting him a Yoga Block though... which I know he needs...

thank you all and Happy Holidays!
Mahalo!

What can I do next?

I have 2 of the Fushigi balls. I've been in love with contact juggling since the movie "Labyrinth" with David Bowie. I taught myself some of it with plain old bouncy balls (or any other balls I had lying around) years ago. I had to have the Fushigi balls because they look like the ones from the movie. They are nothing but mirrored acrylic balls. They don't do anything themselves, you have to learn the moves. Some are easier to learn than others. They're not specially balances in any way or anything either. I like mine only because I've been obsessed with Labyrinth and contact juggling since high school :)

I opened the box of a fushigi ball in walmart, and it was just a heavy glass or plastic smooth ball, and you just roll it around in your hand - seems a major gimmick to me - a better thing would be a powerball - they are fun and build your strength http://www.powerballs.com/

You don't really need a thick yoga mat. I've done yoga for a long time and never thought I needed a thicker mat.

I bought my yoga mat at Target for $19. It's very thick and cushion-y. (Maybe 3/4" thick?) It's totally worth it. Makes yoga bearable. I HATE the feeling of my tailbone digging into the floor, which it does with a thin mat.

I wonder if this is advertised only on TV in Hawaii.
???
Science museum gift shops have juggling "kits" . . .
balls, clubs, instruction book.
Probably around $15-20.

Its just a solid heavier ball which keeps it in contact with your hand due to the greater weight. While you can do it with a regular ball it is more difficult as a bouncy ball or similar will fly off your hand because it is lighter.

We got the Fushigi for our 9 year old (hubby wanted it too). We only got it b/c she really, really wants it, so we'll see if it actually works or not.
