Formula Recommendation

My Ped said that due to the seriousness of formula, they are highly monitored by the FDA and that the store brand formulas are just as good as the brand name. I had to try several formulas fo find the best that worked for my daughter. As you can see, everyone has a different opinion as they used what worked best for their baby. Good luck - just try the smaller containers until you find the BEST one for you.

My husband and i started looking into this out of curiosity and found that the cheaper...is usually the better.
and get the liquid form.
stay away from similac organic due to its very high sugar content...

All formula is sweet as is breast milk...God knew to make it appealing to the baby that way.

If your baby is gassy/colicky....the absolute best formula by far is Carnation Good Start.
Comfort Protiens which means predigested proteins.
By far so much easier on babies tummy than any of the other brands.
Parents rave about it's great effect on babies from the start.
My daughter had a terrible time with Colic and I tried several different kinds. When at my witts end, I checked the internet and found blog after blog from parents who just loved The Good Start.
Please give it a try. I know your baby will do very well with it from the first bottle you give him/her you will see a huge change for the better

I used Enfamil Lipil and was very happy with it. My son was bottle fed formula for his entire first year. He is NEVER sick, is very bright, and slept through the night at 9 weeks. All my friends breast fed and probably feel I"m a bad mommy for not doing so, but it was the best choice for me and I"m positive my son is perfectly fine having been formula fed.
We also tried Good Start (Carnation/Nestle) but didn't like it as much.

I have used Similac Advance since day 1 (supplementing nursing). There were a few days that my daughter was very, very gassy and upset. I spoke to my ped about it and she feels changing formula is a racket. So I stuck with it but changed from powder to liquid. Apparently it was just a phase and now I can give her the same formula either powder or liquid. (note - I added some mylicon to the powder mixed bottles at first, but now she's fine on it alone) Two other moms I spoke to switched formulas only to return to their original one. On the other side of the coin, I know a mom who immediately switches to Alimentum with each of her babies the minute they seem gassy and she swears by it. Note: it is more costly than others. Good Luck !!!!

We used Nestle Goodstart for our son, and he did very well on it. No gas, very little spit up.

My nephew was just put on Similac Sensitive. He was also gassy and the pediatrician recomended it. He is doing well so far. I did some research and it seems to be a good formula. The Similac brands have a lot of research behind them and they worked well for me in the past.
