Food Budget and Angel Food Ministries

I really dont know anything about Angel Food Ministries, but I have cut our family monthly food spend by 35-40% in the last 6 months. I started with couponing. The trick is buying thing when their on sale NOT when you need them. Southersavers.com & couponmom.com are two site that do all the work for you. They will have list of what's on sale and what coupons are available to let you know when to get what you need for the cheapest price possible. I subscribe to 2 papers and my neighbor gives me her extra coupons, this is usually enough if I need more of a coupon to have enough in my house of that product until it goes on sale again (usually every 3 months) I use a coupon clipping service and order extra coupons for what I need (you'll pay 10-25cents per coupon ordered and shipping).
I also very recently started using e-mealz.com. I really wish I would have found this site a long time ago it's so cool. It's a subscription service, 1.25$ a week you pay $15 every 3 months for a meal plan. You sign up for what plan works for you how many in your family and what store you shop at. And once a week they send you a weeks worth of menus that goes hand in hand with what's on sale that week at your store of choice. It's very cool! Good luck!

I have done extensive cost comparisons with Angel Food Ministries. They are considerably cheaper. I used to plan my family's menu around their monthly offerings and bought every month. Then, we moved. lol. I had found that they were 30-50% cheaper food. Every area of the country is different with grocery prices, so you might need to do your own comparison. I LOVE Angel Food Ministries! I bought a 6.8 cubic feet upright freezer just for this so I can stock up each month! :)

I have not tried to do a comparison myself yet. I don't have time to try to do that! LOL

I know it is saving me money & it saves me from dragging my 5 year old around the store to buy groceries! (Hubby is deployed & I work full-time, so not much time to go do serious shopping without the kiddo!)

I have not been good at keeping up with how much we spend on groceries each month. I do spend about $200 on Angel Food most months, but that has just been for me & my daughter. And it has been PLENTY!

I do need to pay more attention to my food budget, but I definitely love Angel Food & recommend it to everyone. My sister is allergic to gluten and her son to milk, so the allergen free box is great. She has said you can't get 5 lbs of gluten free chicken for $25 anywhere else!

My mom and grandmom regularly split a box. We used to also get it when we were kids. Sometimes you had to get creative to use it all, or you traded with friends and family. I think it's a good program overall and it can really help out.

I love some of the foods and only buy it when those foods are present. We love the chicken strips and some of the side packages but hardly ever eat just the main box. You just need to be more selective of what/which packages you order.

We get it sometimes when the majority of food in it is stuff we like and with just the two of us, it lasts a month.
