Fitness Trackers

Does anyone out there know if there's a fitness tracer out there that registers time on an elliptical machine? There are so many out there, I've been reading reviews for weeks and can't decide on which one to get. The Withing Pulse O2 will record elevation (not sure if that will acknowledge an elliptical) The LifeTrak Zone C410 and the Garmin VIvofit both seem to be ok too. Have read many negative reviews on the Jawbone Up 24 (it seems to just quit after a few months). Do you have a fitness tracker? How long have you had it? Would you recommend it? Thank you!

If the FitbitOne doesn't track (steps)on the elliptical (I never done one) you can put it somewhere that it will. like in a sock, on your shoe, or just test it various places, that's what I did on a bicycle machine to get it to track. It tracks steps, stairs, sleep, and calories burned. You can also use it to log your calories in vs out if you want to lose weight. That part is a pain in the butt though (logging your intake, though simple to do if you eat the same things repeatedly), but it really works. So well that you actually keep the weight off so you don't have to do it again:)
To track time you would need to press the button when you start and press again when you stop.(same as when you press for sleep only it knows that you are exercising and not sleeping). In doubt, it uploads to your phone or computer and you can edit it in and label it a elliptical when you see the graph on your exercise chart.

I have a Fitbit One. It does track on a treadmill but not an elliptical, which you can just add to your log.

Hi!

I've had the Bodymedia band for several years and love it. It integrates with tons of apps, Withings etc, and there is a bluetooth option for interfacing with your phone.

I'd say it's pretty accurate regardless of the activity I'm doing. The only caveat is that it can't be submerged in water or worn during hot yoga (heat + moisture = potential damage).

I have an Up24 - this is my 3rd one since Christmas, they absolutely do just die. Good news is Jawbone will send you a replacement, bad news is it will die too. It does not register elliptical activity correctly. It also does not register trampoline fitness class correctly. Don't know about anything else as those are the only two I do. I used to have a Bodymedia Fit - it registered elliptical well and was all around a good fitness tracker. However it was annoying to wear on my upper arm and only lasted 4 months before I got tired of it / annoyed by it.
