Does anyone have any recommendations for a family friendly tropical vacation location? We have two children 4 and 14 and are trying to determine where to go for our summer vacation this year. We have not taken them both to Disneyland because we are waiting for our youngest to get old enough to ride the big rides with the rest of us. So, we're thinking maybe anyone has any suggestions...Hawaii? Mexico? Carribean? Anyone done a cruise with children? If so, how comfortable were you with the onboard childcare provided? Im not so sure if I would be brave enough to leave my youngest with strangers, even for a few hours...

What can I do next?

We just got back from a family vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was great with kids. We had our 1 yr old daughter and 2yr nephew and 3 yr nephew.
We had childcare available at an all-inclusive resort but never used it since we had 6 adults for 3 kids. We went to beach and pool and swam with dolphins, more options are available if you leave the resort more often.
We booked airfare and all-inclusive resort together and saved $.

I highly recommend the Disney Cruise Line. It is perfect for kids of all ages, and you don't have to worry about the rides. It is pretty pricey, though. I would also recommend the Hilton Waikaloa (I think it is) in Hawaii. It has dolphins to swim with, a family-friendly water park, the beach, and many family-friendly activities. It was rated as the best family-friendly resort in Hawaii.

Hey T.-We've enjoyed Hawaii a couple of times. Also, a cruise somewhere would be great for those ages. We took one to Alaska last summer and had a blast! The childcare on the Princess cruiselines was excellent. Lots of options. The care givers were all trained and cleared criminal background checks.

Hello,
My husband and I did the "Sandals" thing for our honeymoon and loved it. They have family oriented all-inclusive resorts called "Beaches". I have never been but have heard rave reviews about it and seeing we have stayed with the adult-only resort (Sandals), I would suggest you try it. If you haven't heard, it is in the Carribean. Good luck with you findings!!!!!

We have been to Villahermosa Tabasco, Mexico. It is tropical and very beautiful, there are lots of places to go there. You would need to rent a car to go all over. Palenque Chiapas Ruines are very nice and are not that far away, Paraiso beach is also wonderful, Yumka Zoo is very diffrent because they take you in a tour walk thru a tropical forest. There are too many places to go and very little time. One thing only, take lots of off spray for the mosquitos in the afternoons.
