My four month old loves to rub her eyes constantly...why? Does she already have a "habit"? It makes me crazy.....The doc says babies that young don't have alergies.

Your doctor needs to read up on things. Yes, she can have
allergies that young...remember the learning to eat pureed
food and doing same food for several days to make sure
not allergic to? Applies to pollen and dust in the air
too. You can look at over the counter allergy liquids
for little ones and have pharmacist read and recommend
a dose. It is not a habit, it is annoying her to have
an itch. And she is scratching/rubbing it.

I had a dr tell me that, too about my daughter (can't have allergies that young), but that's just not true. My daughter was already displaying allergic symptoms by that age and they coincided my allergies... I started sneezing and having eye problems and so did she... I think she'll have very similar allergies to me. I was sooo hoping she would take after my husband who has no allergies.

I don't think she would have a "habit" yet, but it might become one if her symptoms persist. I would talk to a specialist to see if there is anything that can be done. I think Zyrtec is approved for kiddos that young, but I'm not sure. I can sympathize with her because itchy eyes (intensely itchy!) is one of my symptoms. Hopefully, you can find her some relief.

I would change docs. Babies can have allergies. My 21 month old has been on Clarinex for well over a year. He's had allergies since he was very small.

Well they can my son has had allergies since he was born,
and they told me the same thing. Both me of us Parents have allergies. I would hear him have problems breathing at night and
scared me. The Dr said they won't test them till there older.
By age 2 he was old enough to be on Childrens Claritan, but a smaller dose than the reccomend due to his age.

His eyes would water and he rub them, and by the time he was
at Mother's Day out School they be red and they thought he had pink eye. So we were called back to get him and had to go get a note it wasn't pink eye, but allergies.

Do your best to keep them from rubbing there eyes.
I would call the Dr office till they can find a answer for you.

Sometimes doc's just tick me off. Yes you can allergies from the time your are born - as they are umm hereditary... I know that they give wee ones singulair. But mostly I would suggest going to an allergist - and feel free to pass on any information your allergist gives you to your existing doc, and then get a new doc.... My two cents. (I myself went through hell as a small child, due to my allergies that were not diagnosed as allergies until I was 14years old. I still have so much scar tissue on my ear drums that my doctors continually mention it. As a child I was taken to many doctors to figure out why I was so sickly - had needles and lights stuck up my nose - and still the docs said they had no idea what was wrong with me... So on this subject I am just a ummmm tish opionated - sorry if I offend.)

Good Luck

Babies that age can have allergy symptoms, however it is nearly impossible for them to test for allergies that will be lifelong because of the way that their bodies mature. Our son has had allergies and the symptoms for allergies almost since birth. The eye rubbing, runny nose, dark circles under the eyes, etc. are all signs of allergies. It is also more likely since you have them too. Our son also has the discharge issue when his allergies flair up and the only thing that will ultimately stop it is the antibiotic drops that they give for pink eye. He also has Patenol (the allergy eye drops), but that usually only helps him for a bad flare up and for a short period of time. You might ask your doctor about these to see if they will help. I'm not sure what the age limit is for these meds, but it's something to think about... Good luck!!!
