Expecting Twins - Need a Doctor

I am expecting twins and up until now I have been seeing my reg OB. Once I have my ten week appointment she will no longer treat me bc she doesn't deliver twins. She referred me to Provo OB and I am not sure about this. I have friends who have gone there and it seems very impersonal and "luck of the draw" as far as which doctor delivers the babies. Does anyone have a good multiples doctor they can refer me to? I have heard Dr Nance in Springville is good, bit are there any in Provo?

What can I do next?

I, personally, see Dr Broadbent. He's in the medical building at 1300 N (ish) University. He's delivered both my babies. He's private practice so you always see him and he will deliver (unless he's on vacation of course, then he has a circle of on-call doctors). Both of my babies were c-section (and, funnily enough, the same Dr assisted Dr Broadbent on both of my surgeries... what are the chances, right?). I would recommend him, definantly. My only reservation would be if someone wanted to try a VBAC... I wanted to try with my 2nd and he discouraged me, but I wasn't put off enough to switch doctors.
I've had friends highly recommend Dr Dewey, also. Another practice that comes highly recommended is Timpanogos Womens Clinic... they have certified nurse midwives as well as at least one OBGYN. Most people who go to them deliver at American Fork.
Hope that helps... good luck in your search!

Dr. Thomas Judd delivered our twins last december. He was a great doctor and we chose him for his extensive experience delivering twins, especially vaginally. He's delivered 700-800 sets! We loved him and would definitly reccomend! Good luck, it will be a fun adventure! His office number is: ###-###-####

Congrats on the twins! I had twins 19 months ago and I was able to stay with my regular OB (Shelly Savage - she is a family practice doctor), as well as go to Provo OB. Your friends are right about Provo OB - very impersonal. Shelly Savage will deliver twins, however if you end up having to do a C-section, Provo OB will deliver and she assists; that's what happened with me. I was really glad that Dr. Savage was there, even if she didn't officially deliver the kids. I highly recommend you see if you can get in with her. She's an amazing doctor. Since she's a family practice doctor, she can also be your kids' doctor after they're born (SO convenient!), if you want. She's my doctor, my husband's doctor, and my kids' doctor. BTW, her office is just down the street from UVRMC. Her number is ###-###-####.

The best advice I got when I was pregnant with my twins: keep them on the same schedule - eat at the same time, sleep at the same time, everything at the same time. I had mine on a very exact schedule during the day - at first they ate every three hours, then it changed to four hours - and would let them sleep as long as they could at night, but once one baby woke up to eat, I woke the other one up too. It will be your life saver. I have a lot of friends with twins (all of whom were my friends long before I became pregnant with twins), and I can tell you from our different experiences that those of us that put our babies on the same schedule from the beginning were much more sane during the first year.

I also recommend reading "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads." You can find it on Amazon.com. Great book! Other good advice I got - be prepared for a NICU stay. You might be lucky and not have to deal with that, but I'd mentally prepare yourself for it so if it does happen, it's not a huge shock. I'm very glad I did (my kids spent 5 weeks in the NICU).

Good luck!
