Ok I am Catholic and I started posted the question on the Pope. I can't offended so easy. So what if someone says Catholics are not christian. I am Christian and I am Catholic. It is just a waste of time to get upset so easily. We all have different opinions some are the same as mine some are not. I think we just need to respectful when it is said.

It doesn't offend me, but it does make me immediately question the intelligence level of the person who says it.
I am an atheist, and even I know the history of Christianity. The Catholic church was the ONLY Christian church until the Protestant Reformation. How could anyone calling themselves a Christian not know that?!
The issue is that this in not an opinion. It is an untruth. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan said - we are all entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts .
I am not Christian, but I don't get why people feel the need to define OTHER people's relationship with the Divine.
I used to be Christian (Protestant) and I never thought that Catholics weren't Christian.
I think some people find ignorance offensive.
I think the person would be ignorant if they said that. That is about as intelligent as saying someone was born in New York City, therefore they were not born in the USA.
I was less bothered by the comment "Catholics are not Christians" than I was by the other comment "Catholics have their own bible, just as Mormons and Muslims do." Do people really believe this?
Catholics in the United States us the New American Bible, and Catholics in Canada use the New Revised Standard Version. I believe (though I do not know for certain) that most other Christian denominations use the King James Version, the New King James Version or the New International Version. These are all just different translations of the same text. For example, John 3:16:

The Catholic Church does accept a few books in addition to the ones accepted by most other Christian denominations, but that is not the same thing as saying Catholics have an entirely different Bible.
A Christian, is a saved follower of Christ. Religion actually has nothing to do with Christianity. Followers of Christ can be Catholics, or any other religion one might identify with.
There is room for debate, since the Bible says to be saved, one must be baptized by immersion. Catholics do not typically do this. With that said, you weren't asking for a theological debate. I think the gist, is we should not assume anyone is not a Christian, or follower of Christ, simply because of being a different "religion" then you. (You, in the general sense.)
Well, first of all, anyone who says Catholics aren't Christians doesn't know the definition of "Christian". Look at the word. The word "Christ" is in there. To me it's a big DUH moment. A Christian is a "believer in Christ". Ta dah!
Anyone who says that Catholics aren't Christians:
a) doesn't know the definition and needs to be educated.
b) doesn't understand that Catholics believe in Christ and need to be educated.
c) are bigots and are excluding Catholics out of hate.

Catholics are christians but not all chrisitans are Catholic (although they are catholic...with a small c meaning universal).

Of course Catholics are Christian. They are the original Christians. All Christians were Catholics until some decided to "protest" and form other Protestant Christian religions.
That comment wouldn't offend me, it would just sound completely ignorant and I would feel the need to educate that person.
I am Catholic. Catholic is a form of Christianity. As are baptists and prespryterians(sp). who are also part of Christianity. And for that matter I'm not just Catholic I'm Roman Catholic. But regardless we are all people and we all love god in our own way. I do not judge that is not my place. If someone gets upset again that is their right because that is their feelings and it belongs to them.
Yes, it bothers me because it's incorrect. Catholics are Christians. Christians can be either Catholic or Protestant.
It doesn't bother me, because I am neither and don't really care one way or the other what people call themselves. But, I do disagree with the statement and can see how it might upset some people. Didn't read the comment on the other post, so I'm not really sure how it would be an intentionally inflammatory comment either though. I don't read it (on this thread) as being an outright mean or rude thing to say. It sounds more to me like someone is making a distinction that Catholics have more different beliefs than other branches of Christianity (Presbyterian, Protestant, Lutheran, etc - quite frankly, I have no idea what the difference between of these are).
