Has anyone else ever had this while they were preg? My nurse said that I may have them throughout the pregancy. I get at least 8 cramps a day.

if they are on the sides of your belly, it's probably just muscle cramps from your stretching belly and added weight. make sure you are drinking plenty of water, not over-using your muscles, and getting the right mix of vitamins/minerals (sometimes muscle cramps can be from lack of potassium).
if you are having vaginal cramps, I'd make them check it out further, just to be sure it's nothing.
Braxton-Hicks contractions can start around your 7th month I believe. they can be very mild and almost unnoticeable or they can feel like the early stages of labor (but they are irregular, unlike "real" contractions)
hope this helps! and congrats =)

I used to get them....but had alot more later in life and they were worse then... I have found stopping or quit drink in coke products has really helped...expecially diet cokes. If I have one, I can almost always predict I will have leg cramps that night.
Have tried eating a banana a day...can't say that helps...but drinking water and stop cafeine...that is what has helped me. I am a grandmother and loving it.

I had them the whole 1st trimester and into the second with my first preg. Now, with my second preg (i'm 7 months preg right now) I had the same thing, they've just come back again now when i walk...but that's just stretching pains. they are normal...i too questioned my dr about them a lot w/ my first pregnancy.
Good Luck!!!

durring the first part of the pregnancy its normal to have period like cramps. not the period itself. but if they are really intence i would let your nurse know. my third pregnancy, first misscarried and had no cramps at all. the second two i have cramps and welcome them thinking its the baby making room and growing. congrats on your baby!

They are completely normal as the uterus grows and stretches. As long as they are not accompied with bleeding there is nothing to worry about. I am also 12 weeks pregnant and have the same cramping every day.

P.S. You had another poster that said braxton hicks start around the 7th month. This is not true. They actually start at 6 weeks. Some women feel them and some don't.

I have had them this entire pregnancy on and off, and my last one too! My doctor insists its normal. They have even taken my breath away and i have to sit down a bit. They have gotten less severe now as i only have 2 months to go! good luck!
