Could I Be Pregnant? - Smithfield,VA

Hi! I have something weird going on, and you guys have been really helpful in the past. Since New Year's, I have steadily put on weight, and don't really know why. Starting yesterday, I started feeling little "flutters" in my lower abdomen like I felt when I was pregnant with my daughter and felt her kicking. I have been having regular periods, but I have read about people who are pregnant but for whatever reason keep having their period. I bought 2 pregnancy tests today and they both came back negative - but on both I could very, very faintly see the "positive" line. (It was very faint - it definitely didn't look like a positive result.) Has anyone experienced anything like this?

What can I do next?

With my first pregnancy test the line was extremely faint but there. My dr said that if it is there at all then it is positive. Take another test in a week to verify.

I know a couple people including myself that got a faint line at around 5 weeks pregnant but then later it was more of a bold line. I don't think it would be that faint if you were further along but may be worth going to get the blood test from you OBGYNE. Good luck!

I would make an appointment with your OBGYN and get blood tests.

Go to your doctor -- sounds like something is up, although I actually doubt that you are pregnant.

All I know is that with both my kids I always show just a very faint positive line (just very, very light pink) but a positive sigh is still POSITIVE! It doesn't have to be dark to mean your pregnant. Sure enough with both times I went the doc and yup I was pregnant. So I would go to the doctors cause if you are like me then..... you are pregnant! Congrats!

It's time for a trip to the OB/GYN. It doesn't sound like your pregnant, but they can do a test to be sure. If yes, they can check into the bleeding and get you started on those prenatal vitamins. If no, they can check into your unexplained weight gain.

When I was younger I took pregnancy test for months with it showing that it was negative (Dr's office showed negative too...I'm not sure why they didn't do a blood test). Finally I got a positive reading when I was 19 weeks along. Unfortunately, I ending up losing that baby. :(

I would go in an request a blood test from your OBGYN just to make sure.

Best wishes!

A faint positive line is still a positive line. I have also heard of people that continued to have their period straight through their pregnancies. I would definitely get checked out if I were you.

I'm just now reading this, so by now you probably have answers, but for future reference, do not by pregnancy tests that have a blue line. They are famous for making it seem like a VERY faint positive, it happened to me 2x, but I did research , and discovered this. It is an evaporation line you are seeing. Stick with tests that have a pink line. I used to buy generic, which is probably fine just make sure it is pink. I would by the First Response, I either got a very clear no, or just a few months ago, a very clear and instant positive. Our bodies can do strange things sometimes, making it seem like we are pregnant when we are not....especially if you are trying. But, listen to your body, we tend to know when something is off.

It sounds like you might want to visit your doctor for a blood test and/or ultrasound. If you're pregnant, they can figure out if the bleeding is anything to be worried about, and if you're not, they can let you know what might be causing your symptoms otherwise.
Also, you could try a different kind of home pregnancy test -- I've taken a ton over the past few years because my mentrual cycle is so irregular, and I've found that the ones with a blue line do sometimes have a "shadow" in the positive result section even if I'm not pregnant, but the pink ones usually don't do that.
