COOKS - What Is Aromatic Bitters and Why Is It in My Refrigerator?

I was just cleaning out my fridge, and I've found a few mystery items, some with an expiration date of 2009. Yikes. They went in the trash, obviously.

But this aromatic bitters has no expiration date, and I don't know how it got in my fridge or why I might want it. Thoughts?

(It's liquid.)

What can I do next?

I don't know how much of a cook I am, but I do know my cocktails. You'd use Aromatic Bitters to make cocktails (like a Manhattan).

Yup, it's for cocktails. I've never used it for anything else.

I've only used bitters--mixed with club soda--to settle my stomach. A bartender introduced me to it, though.

Like everyone else said, I have only heard of Bitters being used in mixed drinks. That would be why there is not expiration date on it!

Enjoy your cocktails!

I agree - cocktail ingredient. I have a deck of cocktail recipe cards that I've never actually used and "a dash of bitters" is a common line item. I never knew what they were or what it looks like- is it a liquid? A powder?
