I think it's time to admit, I won't wear most of my cute work clothes again for quite a long time... and if I do... they probably won't fit the same! So where do you take your clothes that still have a LOT of life in them, are in style, and know you yourself would buy 2nd hand? I'd also love to hear about great children's consignment stores as well.

If you just want to donate them, Steps to Success, a nonprofit who provides clothes for women trying to find a job with no resources is a great place. They do all kinds of transitional work with women including dressing them for interviews. It is located in Portland. Great tax write off also.

I don't know about adult clothes, but I have been taking my son's clothes to All About Kids on NE 119th and Glisan for several years and have always found some great stuff there. They have clothes, books, todays and equipment.

There's a great kids one in Sherwood. It's small but they only take kids clothes in excellent condition and name brand.
I'd love to hear of a good adult second hand shop...
There is a great children's place called Small Wonders in SE Portland near Holgate and 82nd... also Milogras in the NE Alberta neighborhood is great as well.
I am not sure for Portland but here in Beaverton their is Nan's off of tv hwy. I hear it is one of the best 2nd hand womens clothing, never been inside but don't have much time to buy clothes as I am a full time daycare provider. There is also the re-sale shop (childrens) on Cornelius pass road on your right hand side right before Johnson light.
