My husband and I are TTC and our next step is to start fertility drugs. I will be on Clomid as soon as I start my next cycle, which should be any day. I was wondering if you’ve had experience with Clomid and if you could fill me in on your experience with it, good or bad. Were you successful getting pregnant and how long were you on Clomid before getting pregnant? Multiple Births? Did Clomid fail for you or did you have other negative side effects? Please share if you’re willing. I’m so intrigued to find out what others have experienced. Thanks. :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

You know what...I knew someone asked about Clomid a while back and I tried to find that history on Mamasource with no luck. As soon as I put this out there, I saw the one I wanted. So...forget my e-mail...I will refer to that chatlog. THanks for being willing to look at my question. :)

Hi!
I was on Clomid about 4 years ago - I had a great experience with it! No side effects and I got pregnant after just one cycle! I was nervous that I would need it again when we tried to pregnant the 2nd time, but I got pregnant on my own and quickly! Good luck!

I was on clomid for 6 cycles and I hated it. I had all the side effects. I finally tired femera that is another drug like clomid does the same job but in a different way. I got pregnant the first month. Are you going with a dr that is going to monitor you? It helps a lot to make sure the clomid is working. Also I found a great support board on the net. The women on it are wonderful and very warm. It is on ivillage.com I am trying to put a link not sure if I did it right. We are going to start for #3 here in Oct. If you want to talk feel free to e-mail me.
Good luck

After 3 years of trying to get pregnant and a few of the test, we tried Clomid. I was on it for 3 months and got pregnant. I had a devastating miscarriage, but ended up getting pregnant the very next month (no Clomid since we were taking a break from it) without a cycle in between. I never suffered any side-effects. I know that it worked for us, stimulated something in me to allow me to get pregnant. We had no pregnancies prior to this. I now am pregnant with #4, no problems getting pregnant at all. Good luck to you. Let me know if any other questions. I am so thankful that Clomid was an option for us!

Some people experience bloating and mood swings or pain in their abdomen. I didn't notice symptoms. I got pregnant on my first round of 50mg but miscarried within the month. I got pregnant the next cycle on 50mg and went full-term. The second child took about 5 months and went from 50-150mg in order to get her. I also took progesterone suppliments to up that hormone which I lack enough of. Good luck.

P.-

I was actually on Chlomid for 3 months. Although it did make me ovulate 2 of the 3 times....I didn't get pregnant. However, I have PCOS which means Chlomid doesn't always work for people with this condition. In other conditions, Chlomid usually works quite well. My OBGYN actually concieved all three of her children on chlomid and didn't have multiples....although there is an increased chance, it is not as high as other fertility meds. I had no side effects while I was on chlomid.

We ended up doing injectable fertility medication which is stronger then chlomid for 2 months, which also did not result in pregnancy and then ended up getting pregnant on our own the month after we went off of fertility medication. So I am now 5 months pregnant. I believe prayers are what helped in our case.

There are so many things that they can do now to assist in pregnancy, that I'm sure you will be pregnant very soon.

Take care and I will keep you in my prayers.

I am 36 and I took clomid about 1 1/2 yrs ago because I had been trying to get for pregnant for about a year. I was told that it would increase my chances of having multiples which I thought was a good thing since I wanted 2 anyway. Well, the 3rd cycle it worked and I found out at 3 mos that I was having twins! I remember being a lot more emotional those three months that I took clomid which was unusual for me, but other than that, I had no other side effects. Although I have a family history of having twins, taking clomid does significantly increase your chances so be prepared for that.
Best Wishes! M.

I was on Clomid for more than six months and it didn't work for me. And because I was young (less than 30) my doctor (who I also didn't like and found out from two other women...that he wasn't any good) just kept me on it. I would say...if you aren't pregnant in 3-4 months on it go and see a fertitlity specialist (not an Ob/Gyn specializing in fertitlity...or rather messing around with it...) and see if you can go on to another more powerful drug. Don't wait around. Also having a transvaginal ultra sound checking for things like fibroids is a good idea besides all the other tube blocking things they do. Good luck..oh, and the clomid made me.....every excited...don't know why...my sex drive was off the roof...husband loved it of course!
