I use 1 cup of vinegar in my washing machine in lieu of bleach or softener - in addition to the smallest amount of HE detergent possible and a half scoop of OxyClean. My laundry always comes out clean (I rarely have to pre-treat) and it eliminates all smells from kids and sweaty husbands. I just split the amount between the bleach and softener spaces in my washer.

You can google "cleaning with vinegar" and get all kinds of information about this. I love using vinegar for cleaning because it's non-toxic, cheap and effective for all kinds of cleaning.Good luck!

You can clean anything with vinegar and water (although I'm not sure how well it fights soap scum...haven't tried that yet). I believe the mixture is about half and half (although it's been awhile since I've mixed any up, so again, I could be off). Hope this helps! :)

Soap scum is best attacked with a little amonia in the water and then a lot of ellbow grease.
White vinegar is cheap and works well.

1:8 in favor of water- for vinegar/water cleaner
Magic Eraser sponges to de-grunge the tub and tiles
1:10 for bleach to sanitize potties- or I put a cup in the bowl and scrub with a toilet scrubber- flush and it's gone- I clean the exterior of the toilet with a bleach/water solution in a spray bottle.

I first scrub sinks, toilets, etc. with a baking soda paste then pour some white vinegar straight on/around it so it fizzes up and goes down the drain, then rinse well. It also cleans out the drains and leaves them smelling fresh!

I use white vinegar full strength. Maybe I could 'cut' it with water, but it is fine if you don't. I would use a 1:1 ratio of vinegar and water. That way, you don't dillute the cleansing power too much.

Lemon juice is also a good earth-friendly cleanser. You can also put some ice and 1/2 lemon rind down the garbage disposal while running water to freshen it. HTH! :)

I clean everything with vinegar., it is great on glass cuts grease and so forth. I mop my floors with it but use baking soda on the toilet and sinks and tub. I use distilled vinegar only. you can buy it in big bottles and a couple of spray bottles. I have a swiffer mop and don't buy the swiffer cleaner I fill the empty container with vinegar water. and I don't measure I just pour it in till I feel its enough. I think the acual measure ment is supposed to be 5 parts water and 1 part vinegar.

I use vinegar and baking soda to clean EVERYTHING in my house! It is anti-bacterial and kills mold/germs, so I even use it to clean my daugher's toys.
I use baking soda to clean the tub/sinks. It works like Comet.
For clogged drains, pour in some baking soda, then vinegar over it. It bubbles up (like the volcano projects in school).
For laundry, I use a smaller amount of regular soap and about 1/4 cup baking soda, then use vinegar in place of bleach or fabric softener. Our clothes are clean and soft and rarely have stains.
I mop the floors and clean counters/mirrors, etc with a spray bottle with about 4-5 parts water, 1 part vinegar.
I use white vinegar. It smells a little when it is still wet, but once it dries, there is no scent.
Happy cleaning!

I do half water, half vinegar in a bottle and shake gently, then add a TINY bit of baking soda.
Works great for sinks/tubs. :)
