Choose Between Trophy Club, Coppell and Flower Mount..

Due to my husband's work, we recently relocate to this area from Canada.
We have a 9 years old son. So the school is a very important factor.
My husband is working in alliance gate area. I will be looking for a job after Sep. So, I would also consider the commute issue between two of us. We are originally from Asia. Friendly neighbors are also something we are looking for too, so we do not feel that we are outsiders.

I would appreicate some input and comparision between these 3 locations (Trophy Club, Coppell, and Flower Mount) for us to find a place to settle down for good. Thank you.

What can I do next?

Aww, this brings back memories! I grew up in Flower Mound and Trophy Club. Both have changed a lot since I lived there, but I would say Trophy Club all the way. It's still just more of a community than a big town. Hope this helps and good luck!

I have lived in Coppell for 11 years and we are soon moving to a new home, staying in Coppell. I love it. I love the accessibility to major roadways, love the schools, love the lack of conjestion (that I have always experienced in Flower Mound). It is much closer than the other 2 to Dallas...which is good for resale and job changes. You can also easily commute to the Frisco area via the George Bush Tollway, which is good for jobs in that area (HP, JC Penney, TI, etc.) -- We have new neighbors from China that just moved across the street. The did a lot of research and picked Coppell for the schools. -- We are close to malls, have a new Market Street, and Sprouts....and we are wedged in the major roadways of I35, 635, 121, and the Geroge Bush Tollway. Great location with plenty of local dentists, pediatric dentists, pediatricians, doctors, nearby hospitals, etc. Welcome!

My kids go to the Flower Mound Schools and I love them. Highland Village and Double Oak all feed into the same Flower Mound schools as well and are very nice areas.

I have resided in Trophy Club for 3 years now & love it! Everyone is very friendly & a great school system. It would be a better commute for your husband given construction for the next 4 years on the DFW connector.

Those are three great suburban family places to live. Real estate prices are relatively similar I think (what you pay for what you get). Coppell is going to have the most property taxes because it is Dallas County, but it is the most centrally located. Good luck shopping for a house - it's a buyer's market, and there is plenty to choose from.

The Alliance Gate area is somewhat far from the three locations you are looking into. Those three places are off 35E in Northwest Dallas county and Alliance is north of Fort Worth off 35W. And it's possible when you mapped the area, you didn't realize 35 splits south of DFW and reconnects north of DFW. They become 35W (Fort Worth) and 35E (Dallas). It can be very confusing.

Judging by the characteristics of the three communities you selected, I would suggest Roanoke, Keller and possibly Grapevine/Colleyville (further east than Roanoke or Keller, but closer than Flower Mound, et al). All three have excellent school opportunities, both public and private. As for your ethnicity, I am Asian, too, and live in the HEB area, the only issue I have is driving to Haltom City for the Asian markets. :) I can only go so long without fresh Asian foods!

Welcome to Texas! While there are a few pockets of communities that may not be as friendly as you would like, I can promise you that even unfriendly in Texas is incredibly gracious anywhere else.

I don't know much about Trophy Club, but Flower Mound and Coppell and both excellent communities. I've lived in FM for 18 years, and my SIL lives in Coppell.. they're right next to each other, so we spend lots of time in both communities. Great schools, nice neighbors, plenty of things to do with the kids. Check out www.familyeguide.com to see all of the family-friendly activities in our area.

Good luck!

I lived in Coppell for the last 7 years. I have a 7-year-old son who attends the local schools here. I find the schools to be very high quality. Coppell definitely has the small town feel to it still, if that's what you're going for.

There is a large Asian population (as well as other nations, it's a very diverse area) so your family would definitely fit right in. In fact I would say the diversity is one of the best things about Coppell.

Wow ... you chose 3 very good areas. I am a real estate agent in DFW and work these areas. So, I know them well. On a professional level, I can tell you that they all have excellent schools. On a personal level, I live in Flower Mound and I love it here. The people are friendly and there is plenty of stuff going on for kids. The schools are also exemplary. Here is a link to the school ratings. Check it out yourself. You can check out any school in Texas. This will give you a little more information as to what the schools are like in an area. If you would like more info, feel free to call me. ###-###-####.

Trophy Club is in both Denton and Tarrant Counties.
Flower Mound is in Denton County
Coppell is mostly in Dallas County, but there are areas in the LISD (Lewisville Independent School District) which is in Denton County

Good luck!

If he's working in Alliance area, Coppell (imo) would be way too far to drive. Trophy Club is going to be closer but it's a very wealthy area and you pay to live there. The school district it is in is Northwest ISD which is an excellent school district (has highest paid teachers in Tx too). To stay with NWISD (which is what I would urge) I would look at the Saratoga neighborhood right off of Alliance and 35. They have "older" (within 5 years) homes and new homes and it's a really nice neighborhood in the NWISD. I do like Marshal Ridge neighborhood too but it is in Keller ISD. Keller ISD looks good on paper, but imo is no where near as good as NWISD. It has grown too fast and they also do not give out any grade below a 50 (even if the child does nothing) so their grades/schools appear better than they really are imo. If you go to ziprealty.com you have to log in (but it's free) and you can google by school districts that way. But for his area of work I would recommend sticking to N. Ft. Worth area (like Saratoga neighborhood) or Haslet if you want lots of land. In Haslet (very close to his work) there is a SUPER family friendly neighborhood called Sendera Ranch. It has "no lot homes" in one area and the homes on .25-.5 acre lots on the other side. You can get a 4,000ft. home on half acre for less than $300k so very reasonable. You would be able 10-15 minutes from major shopping areas though so it would have to be a setting you like. OKay, that's my opinion :) Good luck deciding and feel free to mail me if you have other questions. I live in Haslet right now so am very familiar with the area.

Trophy Club is a great community! The schools are great - and near by! There are great community pools and parks - and great access to the hwy! The proximity to Alliance is great!
)
There are some great new homes being built - then there won't be much expansion of Trophy Club any further.

I have heard good things about Flower Mound in the past.

I don't live in TC - but have many friends who do. I live in Keller (really in Keller - not in Fort Worth/Keller ISD) - which this area is GREAT to live in as well.

I live in Coppell and love it. I have been here for 11 years. The the schools are excellent, and the people are neighborly. One thing I have always noticed is how polite the kids are. Any time I have run into groups of HS students in this community, they are very respectful. I think that says a lot about a school system and the community they live in. :)

You are looking at possibly 4 different school district with those cities. Trophy Club is Northwest ISD, Coppell is Coppell ISD and some is in Lewisville ISD, Flower Mound is Lewisville ISD and some parts are Argyle ISD. I think the cities are all pretty similar. You may want to research and visit the schools that your son may attend.

Coppell is excellent and close to many highways, I-35, 635, 121, etc...if you like to get out and about in terms of trying to go anywhere in the metroplex - Dallas or Ft. Worth, you are in an excellent location if you are in Coppell...schools are well-establsihed and always have ranked very high for many many years-excellent academics and extracurricular sports, but can be costly....Also, you pay for the location of being closer to Dallas. Flower Mound and Trophy Club are further out from the big cities-Dallas/Ft. Worth. Flower Mound is part of Lewisville ISD schools, Flower Mound schools are good, but Lewisville-not so good....some cheaper neighborhoods though..b/c you are further out....Trophy Club is far away if you get a job in the Dallas area....but closer for your husband...schools are good, but 20 yrs ago, Flower Mound and Trophy Club were not even on the map, like Coppell was.

I know you didn't list Keller, but north Keller is right next to that Alliance Gateway area. Please check out Marshall Ridge on 377 and Keller Hicks. There are an incredible number of tiny children in the neighborhood and a new elementary school is going to be built in Marshall Ridge next year. You get quite a bit for your money and the houses are beautiful. Many of the moms get together monthly to play bunco. If you're looking in the Alliance area it's worth checking out. Last year we were the top selling neighborhood in all of DFW. You have a new home built, buy a new home that's complete, or buy a previuosly owned home. Also, if you can afford a home in Westlake, check that out because the school there is the one that everyone wants to be in!

Trophy Club or Coppell. These two have easy access to major road ways. Flower Mound while beautiful is above the lake. The road from Flower Mound out to 35 is 2 lane and very congested. It will be a source of stress. There is enough traffic in the metroplex so make sure your path from work to home is easy as possible. Try driving the three areas at rush hour. All three have fabulous schools, parks, churches, and restaurants.
