I currently buy drug store makeup and would like to switch to natural chemical free makeup. I have horrible acne and I have decided that it is time to go to chemcial free products to see if that will help my acne problem. Most natural makeup that I have found is on the pricy side and I just *can not* afford that. Is there a natural chemical free makeup brand out there that sells foundation for $15 or less??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of your great advice!! I'm going to try sleeping on a clean towel everynight, keep a food journal, and look into makeup on Etsy.com. I'm certain I will find the right combination that will work for me! Thank you again!!

Hi M.,

Sei Bella is a safe, non toxic skin care and cosmetic that I buy online. It has pharmaceutical grade vitamins and botanicals in even the cosmetics that heal the skin and reduce wrinkles....not just the appearance of wrinkles. I've been using it about 6 years now and love it. The prices vary depending on what you want, but foundation ranges fro $6 to $22 to give you an idea.

If you're interested I can send you some additional info. Let me know.

*sigh* I get weary of people splitting hairs over what constitutes a chemical. It's common sense. Not all natural things can be lumped in with hemlock and you can't insist that all "chemicals" are the same to the body just because every thing has a chemical make up.
Having a glass of water isn't the same as having a glass of methylparaben or propylene glycol.

Now, to answer your question, M.. Have you checked etsy.com ? There are several great retailers there that use no harmful chemicals and their products work beautifully! I have been using Aveda, but no matter how they market it, it's not natural in any way. So, I will be shopping around, the same as you!

Good luck!

The best thing you can do for your acne is no make-up. But that's not what you want to hear, is it?
I can't do it either, BUT the second best thing to do about your acne is at night.

I'm sure you have a nightly routine of cleansing your face before bed, but when you lay down to sleep, you are putting your face/head on a pillow that has an accumulation of natural oils from your skin/hair from previous nights.

Changing your pillow case often is a given, but that's not enough. ALSO place a clean towel on the pillow EVERY night. The towel absorbs more than the average pillow case (not to mention what the pillow itself is absorbing), and when changed nightly, you have a fresh, clean place to rest. Many who have had acne and has tried this, were astounded by the remarkable results. It's so easy, cheap, and SO effective.
I hope you try it and tell us if it helped!

Although... here's a q back at you: do you mind paying more up front to pay less in the long run?

I've used store brand mineral makeup and I've used BareMinerals.

BareMinerals is $20.
CG etc is about $8-12.

- BareMinerals (normal size, not starter kit size) lasts about 6 months applying it every day.
- CG etc last apx 2-3 months applying it every day.

Aside from cost, my skin goes *lovely* using bare minerals (fewer breakouts, silky texture, etc.), but breaks out on store brand stuff and feels dry/cakey.

There's NO need to buy the finishing powder (i even forget what it's called now, since I never buy it), however. ALL it is is cornstarch + about 1/4 teaspoon of the foundation powder stirred together.

I know this may sound crazy but have you tried keeping a food journal? I think good skin care is very important but you are what you eat as well. I have struggled for 15+ years with acne and upon advice from my acupuncturist I kept a food journal and looked into chinese food therapy. In china they believe foods are hot or cold(meaning they cause you body to heat up or cool down) and depending on your body type(skin coloring, where you're from, ect) will depend on the type of food you can eat. I myself am blond and fair. I break out anytime I have black pepper and a lot of spice. Also it is believed that chicken and turkey cause a lot of heat and I've noticed my skin breaks out when I eat a lot of that as well. I know it's crazy but it wouldn't hurt to look into. Good luck, bad skin sucks!

I also have poor skin. I use a light concealer and bare minerals powder with spf only Just like Riley said, I don't even waste my money on the finishing powder or anything.

It's about $25 but it does last and is worth it.

As for mamamays answer, there are many make-ups with harmful chemicals in them, such as bismuth oxychloride or parabens. Obviously water, is not one of them.

Bare Minerals has some of them, but it is a better alternative than others.

I"ve used her brand before with good results:

I have no clue what you mean by "chemical-free". Technically, Water is H2O and is a chemical. I also don't get this all natural thing people are going into either though as Hemlock is all natural and can be grown organically but is still a poison.

I have a friend that sells MK and I am not sure how expensive their foundation is, but I believe they now carry a foundation that is like bare minerals. Is it possible for you to go foundation free. And concentrate on getting your face healed first?

I like EcoGlow minerals. They are sold online, but the shipping is reasonable. I like that you can order small amounts and try out the shades. A full size foundation would be $16.00 including shipping.
